The word “playbook” is a major red flag. Beware of anyone who sells or uses one. Businesses are a lot more complicated than football, and no two play by the same rules.

I get that no two businesses are alike, but what about a single business. Shouldn’t you have a playbook for certain processes within your company?

Kevin Borders While "playbooks" can seem reductive, they have value as foundational tools when applied flexibly. Businesses are indeed complex and unique, so rigid adherence to any single approach can be limiting. Instead, playbooks should serve as starting points, guiding principles that are adapted to fit specific contexts and needs. The real value lies in combining these frameworks with critical thinking, industry expertise, and continuous innovation. Embracing a tailored approach ensures that strategies are relevant and effective, allowing businesses to navigate their complexities and achieve success
