Engineers are like inventors. No quantity of mediocre talent can replace a Thomas Edison or a Linus Torvalds.
Although I think anybody can improve at their craft with deliberate effort, having natural aptitude for it is a huge advantage. How do you find the true 10x developers?
I agree with you. One way you can tell if a Front End Developer is mediocre in an interview is to ask them to take an HTML input with the `type=datetime` and give you it as a Javascript `DateTime` . If they don't grab the uTC timestamp directly you know you have someone that has never looked at the input properties. See Image for details.

2moI get your point, but I’d argue that even the most brilliant minds need a robust support system to succeed. Linus might have created the foundation, but it’s the contributions of thousands of engineers that turned Linux into what it is today.
