So it happened, ASUS took over Intel Corporation's #NUC line in last year and now presents the NUC 14 Pro, what worries me? 1. No wide version, which could withstand high temperatures better 2. Plastic housing without metal matrix holes 3. The issues involve the keyboard and motherboard, but it seems absurd to ask for such a high amount when the original price of the laptop was only slightly higher. Why is ASUS demanding such a huge amount for repairs? This kind of service is unacceptable. ASUS, I do really like your hardware. Why is it so difficult to get repairs done correctly? At this point, all I can think about is GM's ignition issue. As a GM Quick Lube tech, I knew about the keys pulling out of the ignition cylinder in 2006...as the child of a GM employee, I knew about the issue when they were still building Luminas. Asus, you are scamming customers. "Take care of the people and they will take care of your business" is the best advice I ever received from C-Suite. 👾 Just Completed My Space Invaders and Intel 8080 Emulator! 🎮 I'm excited to share that I've successfully finished a project I've been working on—a full emulator for the classic Space Invaders game 👾, powered by an Intel 8080 CPU emulator! This has been an incredible learning journey, diving deep into low-level hardware emulation, bitwise operations, and handling the intricacies of the 8080 processor. Using SDL2 for the graphics and sound, I was able to recreate the arcade experience right on a modern machine. The project is fully open-source, and I hope it serves as a valuable resource for anyone interested in retro gaming, emulation, or just looking to learn more about how these systems work. It's beautiful to see companies work together to move open ecosystems forward. In this article, Framework's Nirav Patel notes the performance limitations of the prototype RISC-V Laptop 13 Mainboard when compared to Intel and AMD builds, but still: more open designs, more possibilities, more room for excellence. I'm notably biased towards Framework. I bought one of their 16" laptops a few months ago, and working from that machine has been an absolute joy. Bias accounted for, I think there's a lot of good in the possibility of companies aligning with the path Framework has taken: more focus on sustainability in hardware design/production, more people seeing their visions meet markets, and more fun with consumer electronics.
