Equality and justice are often used interchangeably, but they are not the same. Equality is about treating everyone the same, but justice is about recognizing the differences and ensuring fair treatment based on individual needs and circumstances. In the workplace, this misunderstanding of equality can be harmful, particularly for women. Many people believe that treating men and women identically in the workplace achieves equality, but this overlooks systemic barriers and unique challenges women face. True justice considers these differences such as work-life balance needs, caregiving responsibilities, or unconscious biases and provides the support to level the playing field. The misconception around equality has unfortunately contributed to dividing society. Instead of uniting under the common goal of fairness, the focus is often on blanket solutions that don't account for the nuances of real-world disparities. To create a more inclusive workplace, we must shift our focus from equality to equity and justice. Women should be given the tools, opportunities, and accommodations they need to thrive, not just assumed to succeed under the same conditions as their male counterparts. Understanding this distinction is crucial to fostering true inclusivity, where fairness prevails over rigid interpretations of equality. #EquityOverEquality #JusticeAtWork #InclusiveWorkplace #WomenInLeadership

✨This Sunday, give mum the gift of #Equality on Mother's Day✨ Our research shows that: 👉 More women than men take care of loved ones and need to use flexible work and leave for #Caring. 👉 Caregivers, especially working mothers and women aged 50+ face barriers to career advancement. 👉 Caregivers face discrimination in the workplace, especially those from diverse backgrounds. Indigenous mums and carers face the sharpest barriers and are the most likely group to experience discrimination in Australian workplaces. Indigenous women with caring responsibilities are: ❌ More likely to feel unsafe in the workplace. ❌ More likely to carry extra expectations to make their workplace culturally sensitive and engaged. ❌ Less supported when they encounter #Racism and unfair treatment. So, this Mother's Day, along with the candles and chocolates, give mum the gift of equality by sharing in the housework, decreasing her mental load and advocating for #GenderEquality. 💖 Wishing all mother's and nurturers in all their diversities a Happy Mother's Day on Sunday. 💖 🖱️ Read our research: 🔗https://ow.ly/gfJc50Ry6QM 🖱️ Read the research on Indigenous women: 🔗https://ow.ly/Uoia50Ry6QN

Embracing True Equality in the Workplace As companies continue to strive for progress and inclusivity, it’s inspiring to see the support extended to women who take time off for maternity leave. This is a beautiful step toward recognizing the importance of family and work-life balance. However, I believe that equality is about creating a fair and supportive environment for everyone, regardless of gender. Life takes us on different journeys, and many men, just like women, may take time off to care for their families or loved ones. These decisions are made with the same love, responsibility, and dedication, and I feel that these experiences also deserve understanding and recognition. It’s a great time to open up the conversation about how we can continue to evolve workplace policies, making them even more inclusive and supportive for all individuals—whether male or female—who take time off to be there for their families. Together, we can work towards a future where every candidate is valued not only for their professional skills but also for the personal experiences that shape who they are. Here’s to creating workplaces where equality truly means embracing the diversity of every journey! #EqualityForAll #InclusiveWorkplaces #DiversityAndInclusion #WorkLifeBalance #FutureOfWork

Hereworks Solve can't fix all women's problems, but it can support them better at work. This International Women's Day, it's essential to remember that we must support our female workforce. There isn't one easy solution, but it's important to highlight these problems. They can be anything as simple as the bathroom running low on sanitary items, as Sarah experienced in this video, or as complex as returning to work after maternity leave. We encourage you to engage with campaigns and companies that are bringing attention to women's problems in the workplace, like Lotus Maternity's Campaign M founded by Olivia Swift. Let's support our women better. Let's #InspireInclusion. #IWD2024 #InternationalWomensDay #Hereworks #Inclusion #SupportWomen #ProblemSolving

The Intersection of Workers' Rights and Women's Health: Building a Foundation for Equality and Well-being Today, May 1st, is International Workers’ Day! In the ongoing pursuit of gender equality, it's crucial to recognise the dynamics between workers' rights and women's health. This symbiotic relationship underscores the importance of fair work conditions in shaping not only economic empowerment but also overall well-being. The connection between these two realms is undeniable so let’s dig a little deeper. ✅ Access to healthcare: One of the most tangible benefits of fair work conditions is improved access to healthcare for women. Studies have consistently shown that when women are economically empowered through fair wages and stable employment, they are more likely to seek out and afford healthcare services. This access not only facilitates preventive care but also ensures early detection and treatment of health issues, ultimately leading to better health outcomes. ✅ Mitigation of workplace stress: Fair work conditions play a pivotal role in mitigating the stressors that disproportionately affect women in the workforce. The World Health Organisation (WHO) identifies precarious work conditions, such as low wages, long hours, and lack of job security, as significant contributors to stress-related health issues. By advocating for fair wages, reasonable working hours, and job security, we can alleviate this burden and promote mental well-being among women. ✅ Empowerment for healthy choices: Economic empowerment provides women with the agency to make healthier lifestyle choices for themselves and their families. With financial independence, women can afford to make more nutritious dietary choices, gain access to physical exercise facilities, and preventive physical and mental healthcare services. Studies have shown that women who have control over their finances are more likely to invest in their health, leading to reduced rates of chronic diseases and improved overall well-being. At its core, the intersection of workers' rights and women's health addresses systemic inequalities that persist in our society. By advocating for fair work conditions and economic empowerment, we not only promote gender equality but also address the underlying social determinants of health that affect women. This holistic approach is essential for creating environments where all women have the opportunity to thrive, both economically and health-wise, and pave the way for a more equitable future. #WomenEmpowerment #HealthEquality #FairWorkConditions

💜 It’s International Women's Day today 💜 which is a great opportunity to celebrate women in manufacturing, and at the same time, look closer at why women are still under-represented in industry. At Manufacturing NI we are committed to encouraging more girls into #STEM subjects, vocational training as well as university programmes and whilst we continue to make progress, we recognise there is lots still to do. Creating #inclusive workplaces and driving the right culture change should be every employer's priority. This should include; opening up the conversation in the workplace on #menopause; making flexible arrangements around parental leave, in work training and progression; and ensuring #diversity where business decisions are made. There is overwhelming evidence that diverse, inclusive, and equal businesses work better 🙋♀️ 💜

This International Women's Day, let's hold ourselves accountable for the historical lack of inclusivity for women in the workforce by actively ensuring everyone has a seat at the table. Check out this paper to learn how inclusivity becomes tangible through unbiased recruiting and equitable parental leave policies. Without making inclusivity a priority, it's impossible to foster a company culture where everyone, regardless of gender, can thrive. https://lnkd.in/eyDPm8Zm #InternationalWomensDay #Inclusivity #Leadership #EmpowerWomen #GenderEquality #WorkplaceDiversity #ChangeMakers
