A tribute to: Barry Parris "He is my hero and always has been." says his sister, Pam. In his early 20's, Barry was in an accident by a drunk driver. He had a 5% chance of surviving through the night after immediate brain surgery, but was fortunate to live many many years after. "He was such a fighter. He taught himself how to walk and write again. Built his little small house on his own , but of course with little help here and there from family and friends." Pam says. "I've never known anyone with such a big and caring heart." Pam finds comfort in knowing that even after Barry was gone, he was able to help someone else. "I do hope that one day I would get to meet anyone that he was able to help and tell them what a great person he was." As Barry would say, "God Bless". I couldn't see myself... Do you know what it feels like to look in the mirror and not recognize yourself? After my surgery, I couldn’t bear to look at my reflection! Keynote Speaker | Board Member | Former CEO and Strategy Advisor specializing in raising capital, growth, and exit strategies.
Imagine a journey where every step forward feels like climbing a mountain. Reality 👉 My brain tumor was discovered and I endured two life-threatening surgeries that tested my physical resilience. The second surgery was harsh, leaving my vision and balance severely impacted. Although simple tasks were now a struggle, one thing remained clear: My Vision for myself. Every step, every small victory was forward momentum through these difficult moments. I remember celebrating walking around the table and taking more steps up the stairs each day. There were days when my body rebelled, but one step at a time, I reclaimed my life. Fueled by my vision, I pressed on. My story reminds us that with the resilience of the human spirit and a clear vision, even the most daunting challenges can be overcome. Dear all, I don't usually post here but my colleague Oleksandr Bilyi and his daughter are facing a challenging situation and your assistance would mean a lot. Oleksandr's daughter is currently unable to use her right heel, and after consulting with orthopedists worldwide, they have determined that a minor-invasive surgery called SPML is crucial. This procedure holds the potential to grant her the significant benefit of being able to step on her heel and the entire foot. Beyond that, it could alleviate other muscular issues, correct posture, and improve walking. The scheduled orthopedic surgery is set for March 12, 2024, and while they are determined, the financial burden is daunting. The estimated cost is approximately 30,000 EUR, covering the surgery itself (21,145 EUR), as well as travel expenses, accommodation, and rehabilitation for the initial week post-surgery. Your support can and would make a meaningful difference. Please consider contributing to their cause by visiting the following link: https://lnkd.in/dck4RMhv.

I had a pretty invasive back surgery 10 days ago (it was planned, I'm fine, everything is okay, this is not a post to necessarily talk about that). One of the reasons that I'm an entrepreneur is the ability to make my own schedule, but you can't do that without a team behind you and clients that understand and support you on your journey. One of the most flattering, kind things that I've experienced over the last 10 days is the freedom of understanding that my team has it handled, because they always do, the kindness of clients checking in on me while I recuperate, and the motivation and excitement to get back to work when I can sit back and reflect on why I love it as much as I do. When you're in recovery, you have to see each tiny goal that you achieve as a win. The "I walked 2 miles today with my walker versus the 1.5 I was able to do yesterday" - or "I went to Target for the first time to today!" For whatever reason, in business, we get incredibly caught up in our big goals that we miss our small wins. You're a week into the new year. Think about what your small wins were this week - whether you hit a tiny goal, you kept up towards a big one, and don't let the other stuff bring you down. My goal this week? I'm meeting with each member of my team as I slowly start to come back to work to catch up with them and see how things are going and how I can be of help to them as I come back. It's a small and attainable goal, and one that I know I can achieve before moving on to the next one. #smallbusinessowner #smallbusinessownerlife #goalsetting #goalsettingtips #coastalva

WOW. ❤️ Not only do I love Willie Nelson, but when I say that I love my job and every single person I work with at Jobot, I mean it wholeheartedly. In my entire staffing career, I have never experienced such consistent and genuine intentionality from leadership. Garrett's incredibly kind words and overall leadership are both just mind-blowing. I feel authentically seen as a human, I feel surrounded by like-minded positive people, and that is just such a beautifully validating experience. Starting my first full quarter out in January and finishing the month as the #3 biller company-wide is also mind-blowing. I am sharing this because I hope to encourage anyone who may find themselves in a similar situation as I was in... "...I want to give you some advice, be careful. A lot of places will have a 'last one in, first one out' mentality... you may get let go very quickly since you would be new and starting over." Actual advice a Senior Leader left me with as I was giving my notice at a previous job... This is coming from someone I deeply respected and just really liked in general, (they're honestly great). As they said these words to me, you know the worst part is?? This incredibly awful, fearmongering "advice" stuck with me. I am also embarrassed to admit that it was at this moment that I began questioning my abilities and entirely disregarding my own value. So much so that something I've never struggled with before (imposter syndrome) crept in as I started to second-guess everything. And it began to spread from there as I went on to accept my new position with Jobot. But you know what....? I finished as the #1 Rookie last month and #3 COMPANY-WIDE. All from scratch. All raw business development. All gray hair by the end of it, (jk). I share this not to brag by any means, because it's staffing, and let's be honest... there are high-highs and low-lows, and it will ebb/flow forever... but to hopefully reassure anyone who has ever felt imposter syndrome creep in - I hope you never question your value. If you are undervalued, or misunderstood, know your worth and put yourself first. (and be honest about it, don't create stories to fit a self-serving narrative - you can always do better). The bottom line is this - you know who you are and what you are capable of, and I hope you never doubt yourself as I did, all based on someone else's 'advice.' Life is weird and hard and fun, much love to you all!! Anna
Have you ever heard the Willie Nelson quote "Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results"? Well, I don’t think Anna Burk has ever had a negative thought in her life, but she is living proof that positive thoughts lead to positive results. Anna just completed her 4th month with Jobot and did INCREDIBLE!!! In fact, she finished 3rd in the entire company for the month of January. All of this alone is unbelievable and worthy of celebration, BUT she also did this while having and recovering from knee surgery, getting 2 brand new puppies, and being an incredible mom to 3 girls during cold and flu season (if you know you know). If anyone had a good argument to let negative thoughts creep into their head, it was Anna, and yet she’s always the most positive person in my day. She leads with #kindness and #respect and her happiness really bubbles into every aspect of her life. You can't talk to Anna without smiling. My life is better having Anna in it, and I think everyone she encounters would agree. Here’s to the glass always being half full.
