Because image quality matter to indentify prostatic artery origin. Find out the endless possibilities of 4D CT.
Identification of the prostatic artery origin and collaterals is crucial to minimise the risks of non-target embolisation. This can cause ischemic complications in major pelvic organs and is made more challenging due to the complexity of the anatomical structure involved. The Canon Alphenix Angio-CT features a volumetric 16cm detector, enabling visualisation of the entire pelvis in a single rotation. This capability allows for accurate identification of all feeder vessels and visceral collaterals, confirming the prostate artery origin and optimising the volume of embolic delivered by visualising the entire pelvic blood supply. With the help of Professor Pedro del Nido, Niv Ad MD, Zsofia Long MD, we have tested our jugular- and femoral-length CardioSight devices in a blood-filled, beating heart model. Among several other maneuvers, we have successfully demonstrated fully optically-guided biopsy in the right ventricle. Please, follow the link to see a sequence of images captured during the procedure, showing a bioptome in the CardioSight device’s transparent working channel, precise tissue engagement, the biopsy site after the use of the bioptome and the resulting tissue sample: https://lnkd.in/gmtH3AtD

COUMADIN RIDGE It is a prominent left atrial ridge (LAR), an anatomic variant. LAR, also known as Coumadin ridge is a band-like tissue that lies in the left atrium in between the left superior pulmonary vein and left atrial appendage (LAA). It usually has a narrow proximal portion and a bulbous distal portion resembling a cotton swab. Coumadin ridge can be misdiagnosed as a thrombus when prominent leading to unnecessary anticoagulation (with Coumadin), and hence the name. #echocardiography
