Pawsitively Bears Day #1: The inception of Teddy Bears with Heart traces back to a personal challenge during my divorce. Faced with the dilemma of what to do with 450 bears stored in boxes that I had collected through the beanie bear craze, a conversation with a friend who happened to be a fire captain sparked the initiative. I didn't want to throw the bears away, he volunteered to take a few off of my hands. I then started thinking, who else could use bears so I started looking. I have always been one of those who "see a need, fill a need" kind of people. As TBWH grew we decided we wanted to be a non-profit. At the time it cost a lot so I did some online research and found Good Bears of the World. They have been in business since the 70s and did exactly what I wanted to do. I contacted them and they agreed to let us be a Den. Since 2008 we have given out over 200,000 stuffed animals and are gifting to first responders and other agencies in over six counties, not to mention throughout the U.S. and Internationally, when we can. The primary mission of Teddy Bears with Heart is to provide comfort to children in crisis, the forgotten elderly, and the terminally ill. Importantly, TBWH emphasizes our commitment to being a resource during times of genuine need, steering away from serving as mere Christmas gifts, prizes, or incentives. The focus remains on offering support and solace to those facing challenging circumstances. www.tbwh.org/donate #shareabearbecauseyoucare #pawsitivelybears #TeddyBearsWithHeart #NonProfit #Support #Comfort #Resource #FirstResponders #ChildrenInCrisis #Elderly #TerminallyIll

I have to believe in myself every morning because the children that count on me and believe in me don't take a break. I have to push myself beyond challenge and beyond excuses. The reason why I do what I do is to create a place at SOOFA Ranch where we can really change lives through working with horses. That’s why we’re building the Ride Strong Multi-Use Community Center – a place where children, veterans, and families can heal, grow, and thrive. But to make this vision a reality, we need your support. Our goal is simple: if 10,000 people commit to just $5 a month, we can raise the funds necessary to complete this vital project. Your contribution is not just a donation; it's an investment in a community space that will uplift countless lives through equine-assisted therapy and education. We’ve seen firsthand how horses can teach confidence, communication, and emotional resilience. Now, we need a dedicated space to expand these programs and reach even more individuals who need it the most. Every bit helps, and together, we can make this dream a reality. Let’s build this together. Will you be one of the 10,000 to Ride Strong with us? Contribution and Giving Back: 1) Volunteer for a cause you are passionate about. 2) Engage in acts of kindness and generosity. 3) Contribute to your community or a charitable organization. 4) Think of yourself less is to think of yourself less often. 5) Look for one opportunity a day to help someone, and do not look for credit from your peers, keep your act to yourself.

ANNOUNCEMENT: We're so thrilled to share that we now have subsidies for our outdoor play support programs. From the outset of our launching as a new charitable organization, we have been committed to access, equity and justice in our work, and that means we've prioritized our funding asks to include unrestricted funds that can be allocated to subsidies to remove barriers for children and caregivers to access our programming for free or with a minimal fee. As many of you know, in the start-up phase for any not-for-profit or charity, the financial needs are great, and determining what to ask for and when to ask it is a tricky game of capacity, timing, luck, and alignment to strategy. We wanted to make sure that as we build our internal capacity as an organization, we are equally committed to our vision for an equitable world, and we are building a community of diverse people who can access our services. We still have a long way to go, but we're happy to report that we have just secured our first funder who has committed to helping us create subsidized spots for children and caregivers to attend our Outdoor Play Grief Groups. The foundation has asked to remain anonymous, which we respect, but we celebrate this milestone and the real impact it will have on families!!! #philanthropy #unrestrictedfunds #subsidies #accessandequity #outdoorplay #supportgroups

Did you know that a well managed memory tree can consistently bring in £30k per annum in fundraising revenue? Things to do that will contribute to that are: ✅Good communications/caring and sensitive engagement ✅regular social media posts to prompt engagement ✅Good leaflets in bereavement packs ✅offering direct debit to spread cost over a year ✅follow up memorial events ✅encouraging all staff to share their tree’s existence not just fundraisers ✅regular articles in newsletters ✅seeing the tree as a gateway to further giving, possible future legacy… Memory Trees are a good addition into the fundraising mix. Often called celebration trees, tree of life, donor recognition trees they can quietly supplement income and create a lasting, tangible connection between donors and the charity. ✅A nice design helps too!! If you have a spare bit of wall, want to add another income stream and have a bit of budget to spend drop me a message. I have 43 sites around the country and 9 years experience. Worth a shot? #inmemory #legacy #charity #fundraising #donorrecognition #rememberinglovedones #treeoflife #designer #memorytree

2 civic responsibility opportunities I would like to bring to your attention: 1) I joined the movement to create positive change for moms and babies everywhere, especially those most at risk. With preterm birth and maternal death rates continuing to rise, I’m committed to raising funds so that every family gets the best possible start. But I need your help. Please visit my fundraising page to make a donation. Together we’ll be part of a movement to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy. https://lnkd.in/gNx_pGje 2) I am also volunteering with the American Red Cross as a Ready Rating Program Advisor. The Ready Rating Program is a free service provided through a partnership between the American Red Cross and the Canadian Red Cross. It assists businesses, schools, and organizations in becoming prepared for disasters and other emergencies, helps meet OSHA requirements, and aligns with some Baldrige criteria (see 1.2c2 & 6.2c). I need to reach businesses & organizations about this free program to help improve preparedness throughout the U.S. https://lnkd.in/gTDSYizK.

Exciting news in the philanthropy world! Renowned entrepreneur Dick Smith has made a generous commitment to donate his $300 energy rebate announced in the Federal Budget this week to the Salvation Army, urging fellow millionaires to follow suit. Dick Smith's message is clear and inspiring: "Not all of us need that money. There are millions of Australians that are doing OK. Donate the money to an important charity and that means the money won't be wasted." In a time where every little bit helps, this gesture of kindness demonstrates a powerful way to make a significant impact. This act of generosity can serve as a reminder of the impact we can have when we redirect resources to where they are most needed. So many Australian families, including kinship and foster care households face significant financial challenges daily. For carers, additional financial support really does go a long way, grants for the purchase of items for the children and young people in their care can mean the world, especially when the cost of living is so high. Through our fundraising at OzChild we can help with the costs of tutoring, counselling, car seats, and even prescription glasses for kids – practical items that make caring a little bit easier. But we can’t do that alone. No not-for-profit organisation can, we rely on the generosity of others to make it possible for us to help lighten the load for families. Let’s join forces to make a difference! I encourage everyone who can, to consider this impactful choice. Whether it’s a donation to the Salvation Army, OzChild or another charity close to your heart, let’s turn our rebates into a collective effort for good. #Philanthropy #SocialImpact #GivingBack #CommunitySupport

Imagine a gift that keeps giving well into the future. That's what Legacy Giving is about. Whether it’s through gifts of real estate and collectibles, charitable remainder trusts, or even capital gains, your Legacy Gift can help provide mobility to those who need it for years to come. There are a range of options beyond wills and bequests. By planning a legacy gift, you help ensure that Free Wheelchair Mission continues its crucial work for years to come. This is more than a donation—it’s a promise to future generations that they, too, will receive the wheelchairs they need. Don't just take it from us. Hear what our Legacy Givers have to say: "The other thing we’ve done is to include Free Wheelchair Mission in our wills. Thinking about how you leave a legacy: the things you’ve done, the life you’ve led, the impact you have on others, on family, friends, community, and humanity at large.." - Stuart and Maggie Rattray Learn more about how you can make a lasting impact by visiting https://lnkd.in/gNH4NYhn #LegacyGiving #EstatePlanning #LeaveaLegacy
