Step 2: 45 min Take Home Coding Challenge This is a coding challenge that reflects the kind of problems that you’ll be solving while working here. It’s designed based on an actual problem that we’ve had to solve in the product and our goal is to see how you think through engineering problems. This will involve working with Python and data frames in pandas, but it’s ok if you are not a pandas expert - any library-specific functions you need will be provided. Final onsite interview: 30 min. We will walk through an engineering design problem together to see how you think about systems at a higher level. This is collaborative and we’ll talk through solutions and tradeoffs together.. This is a continuation of the take home coding challenge that will build on your previous solution and touch some different technical areas. 🚀 Day 4 and Day 5 of #30daysofMERN Mastering Node.js File System & NPM 🛠️ Today was all about diving deeper into Node.js, focusing on the file system, and getting hands-on with NPM and the CLI. Over the past two days, here's what I’ve learned and practiced: ⭐Node.js File System (fs): ~ Reading and Writing Files: Explored various methods to read and write files. Understanding how to handle large files efficiently was crucial—streams and pipe() are game-changers for processing big data. ~ Streams: Learned how to create readable and writable streams in Node.js, and when to use pipe() versus manually handling events. It’s clear that pipe() simplifies the process and is often the better approach. ~ File Operations: Practiced how to delete, rename, and remove files, along with creating, checking, and deleting folders. These basic file operations are essential for any backend application. ⭐NPM & CLI: - What is NPM: Dived into the world of NPM (Node Package Manager), understanding its role in managing packages and dependencies in a Node.js project. - CLI Basics: Got comfortable with the Command Line Interface, learning how to install packages, initialize projects, and manage dependencies. - Nodemon: Installed and used Nodemon to automatically restart the server after changes, which streamlines development. - Project Initialization: Learned how to initialize a Node.js project with npm init, creating the all-important package.json file to manage project dependencies. - Package Management: Practiced installing, updating, and removing packages, and understanding the difference between package.json and package-lock.json. - node_modules Folder: Learned why we don’t include the node_modules folder in version control and how to use the .gitignore file to exclude it. 📚 Bonus: I’ve compiled all these key learnings into a detailed document that I’m sharing with you.
