INSIDER TRAVEL TIP: What I’ve Learned From 25 Years At Top Luxury Beach Resorts – A Tip to Aid Your Destination Decision People often ask me “What’s your best advice about this beach, this resort, or the food at this top-rated ocean-front hotel?”. After more than two decades managing and living at these luxury properties, I always come back to the same word: Quality. It may sound cliché, but I assure you, it is not. Quality is THE driving force behind every stellar property I’ve ever experienced. It encompasses the level of service, the nature of the food, the “feel” of the beach, the elegance of the property, and the attention to every little detail. When combined, these factors create and undeniable feeling that you are experiencing something special.   We hear so much about 5-star properties, but when you enjoy true 5-star luxury, you know it immediately and you can never go back.    The trick is knowing how to read between the headlines and website slogans to discover that true 5-star location. My entire career has been spent managing in the high-end hospitality industry. This has given me insights and insider information that can guide luxury property consumers in the best direction. It’s a privilege to now be able to share those insights with discerning travelers. Having lived on these islands, relaxed at the beaches, dined at the exquisite restaurants and lounges, and dedicated countless hours towards elevating the high-end consumer experience, provides me with an opportunity to enhance that experience for those seeking the elusive true 5-star feeling.   Here is one of the simplest and best tips I can share: Staff training.   Make a phone call to the front desk before you book or visit to see what kind of greeting you get and let that interaction define the hallmark of quality you will receive. Staff training is one of the main differentiators among luxury properties.   I look forward to engaging with you further, and hope we can enhance your experiences by tapping into my insights.   And remember, I welcome comments and questions from everyone, whether you’re a valued Regent Grand client or not. Chase sneak peek of their new luxury lodging collection including data showing increases in 2024 bookings and spend and a focus on experiences: Year over year, there is a 47% increase in future bookings for springtime travel in 2024, while fall travel is currently experiencing a 59% increase. There's already a 115% increase in travel bookings to Melbourne, Australia, for the Australia Open, and Salt Lake City can brag about a 39% increase in bookings for dates during the Sundance Film Festival in January. Travel bookings to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl next February are also up by 12% compared to last year. Travelers aren't being chintzy, either. Chase Travel reports a 40% year-over-year increase in luxury hotel bookings, a 28% increase in business-class ticket bookings and a 14% increase in first-class ticket bookings.

The Holidays are often the time to plan not just your “New Year’s Resolutions”, but also your travel and vacations. Most of us surely have some “bucket list” items that we want to visit in our lifetime, but if you need new ideas, here is the new Gold List 2024 of the best hotels in the world as compiled by Conde Nast Traveler and those people do know the industry perhaps better than anyone.    The list has a fundamental feel to it – many of the global icons of travel are there – from the Ritz in Paris to Badrutt’s Palace in St. Moritz and many other legends of hospitality and high-life. Plus, many “palaces” and hotels rich in legacy. Lake Como, Vienna, New York City – all are there, but the List is not limited to traditional luxury – check out, for example, the Explora Patagonia in Chile, that blends a highly modern structure into the Patagonian wilderness or some smaller hotels in famous, but not mainstream places, like Nantucket or Napa Valley in the US or Norway.    Most of this is, of course, clearly high-end and not affordable for regular visits – but maybe we can splurge for some unforgettable experience. The ultra-luxury travel market is booming, and we’re going to continue to see an increased demand for luxury experiences that are one-of-a-kind, a sort of challenge to the travel industry to keep innovating.
