🚀 First Week at Indian Institute of Management Amritsar: A Hectic but Rewarding Journey 🌟 The first week at IIM has been nothing short of intense! The starting week alone has given us a taste of the hectic MBA life – 24 committee tasks within 72 hours, coupled with classes. Sleepless and tired, yet driven by a strong willingness to learn, we push forward. Each morning, our faces in class tell the story of all-nighter efforts. Everyone is trying to stay awake and remember the names of newly met faces. Despite the exhaustion, the committee tasks have been incredibly valuable in helping us connect with each other, be it the MBA core batch, HR, or BA batch. Yes, it's definitely very hectic and tiring, but if you have the willingness and passion, you'll look back and think, "It was very hard but fun as well," along with a treasure trove of new learnings. A remarkable session by Rami Goldratt at IIM Calcutta - MBAEx (One Year Full Time MBA Programme). It is very honourable to hear from the CEO of Goldratt Consulting about the famous 'Theory of Constraint'. He presented some crucial insights about bottlenecks in the processes. 1. Improvement & Innovation: It is often undertaken by organizations to improve the existing processes in the name of 'Innovation'. But the basic of innovation lies in removal of significant limitations from the processes. 2. Bad Multitasking: While speeding up the processes, sometimes organizations resort to improperly defined multitasking- a 'Bad Multitasking', and this leads them to the initial stage, rendering a significant loss of resources and the trust of investors. 3. Inertia and the 'Vicious Cycle': Inertia in implementing innovation stealthily drives organizations into an elongated period of vicious cycles which usually deviates them from their goal. There are 21 IIMs in the country today. It is interesting to see how IIMs have grown over 63 years since the inauguration of the first IIM (Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta) in 1961. Out of 21, only six were inaugurated before the turn of the century. The remaining 15 emerged from 2007, with the latest addition of the Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (formerly NITIE). Only a few thousand students graduate from these premier institutes yearly out of the lacs of candidates who appear for the CAT entrance exam. These graduates are trained in a rigorous two-year program to serve as future managers and leaders. #IndianInstituteofManagement #IIM #MBA
