The UKP Lab and Technische Universität Darmstadt are partners in the research project #GeMTeX ⚕️, which is funded by the German Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung and started one year ago 🎂 The main goal of GemTeX is to generate a large annotated text corpus of German medical texts from the routine patient care. While extensive measurements in the field are common, they often strain resources without proving their benefit, and Daniel calls for clearer, distinct measurement tools for different stakeholders. What should we measure? AI also needs good data. - Finally, Miklovana Tuci from the Biomedical Data Science Lab at ETH will present the concept of digital twins for spinal cord injury patients, enabling simulation of expected recovery through standard rehabilitation protocols. 🙏 These presentations underscore the importance of innovative technologies and interdisciplinary approaches in advancing digital health and rehabilitation. We will highlight challenges, opportunities, and promising avenues for improving patient outcomes in neurological and SCI rehabilitation. Exciting news from the EASL Congress 2024! 🎉 Ewa Wunsch from Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin and a group of collaborators have developed a novel machine learning algorithm to predict the risk of cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) in patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). The poster for this innovative study, presented at the EASL Congress from June 5-8, 2024, addresses the challenge of early CCA detection, which is crucial for effective clinical decision-making. 🧬 By evaluating autoantibodies (anti-GP2, PR3-ANCA, anti-gliadin, and anti-F-actin) and using data from 605 PSC patients, the team created a machine learning model. This research is a significant step forward in precision medicine for epilepsy patients. We’re leveraging machine learning to estimate the concentration of the drug carbamazepine from human saliva. Our goal is to provide a non-invasive, real-time monitoring solution, reducing the need for frequent hospital visits and eliminating the discomfort of traditional methods. 📚 This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support and guidance of my advisor, Prof. Dr. Stephen Ramsey, and co-advisor, Prof. Dr. Elain Fu.
