Empowering Future Doctors and Leaders: Assisting pre-med and current medical students in achieving med school and residency goals through Army HPSP and more.
Navigating Rising Interest Rates: The Financial Strain on Medical Students and New Doctors The financial burden on medical students and new doctors has become increasingly heavy with the recent rise in federal student loan interest rates. The 2024-25 academic year sees Direct subsidized and unsubsidized loans for undergraduate students with an interest rate of 6.53%, up from 5.50%. For graduate students, the rate for Direct unsubsidized loans has jumped to 8.08% from 7.05%. PLUS loans, which help parents and grad students cover funding gaps, now carry a 9.08% interest rate, up from 8.05%. These rising costs make it harder for medical students and new doctors to manage their debt, impacting their financial stability and career choices. The pressure to repay high-interest loans can influence decisions about specialties, practice locations, and even personal life choices. But what if there were alternatives to traditional student loans? Options that could alleviate this financial burden and provide more flexibility for those pursuing medical careers? Let's connect to discuss more about potential solutions and how we can support our future medical professionals in achieving their goals without the overwhelming financial strain. #MedicalSchool #StudentLoans #FinancialAid #FutureDoctors #FinancialWellness Feel free to reach out to explore these alternatives and find out how we can make a difference together. I was severely in debt. Like $240,000+ But that's average for most medical grads in the US. And many are turning to #highpayingjobs (specialties) to help pay off those loans. But also: -choosing jobs in private practice and avoiding academics (not wrong, but we need more good academic docs!) -jumping into risky partnerships without a mentor to help guide them (sink or swim) -risking more debt because they're making "#bigmoney" https://lnkd.in/gqGvgRiB

$$$ & Time Saver for Medical and Healthcare Practices I Clinical Sales Rep I AI-Powered Operations for Healthcare I Innovative Solutions for RCM, Clinical Documentation Efficiency Improvement & RPM🩺 💻 📱💰🏥
My first paycheck as a physical therapist was around $1,500. My student loan payment was $1,500. A lot has changed since then (for the way better), nearly 7 years removed from that time, I'm in a way better spot. Here's what made the biggest impact. Moving beyond my own confining ideas. I pivoted to believing and doing the following: ✅ Understanding I did not have to stay in outpatient PT forever ✅ Clinical Management in corporate PT was no longer a dream worth pursuing ✅ Physical Therapy can be delivered beyond the clinic walls ✅ Pursue healthcare related roles beyond Physical Therapy ✅ Learning and developing business skills ✅ Creating content ✅ Entrepreneurship is a worthwhile and exciting endeavor This all did not happen overnight but it did change my life forever for the way better. What beliefs have changed for you? #healthcare

Last week we reacted promptly to the Federal #Budget announcement that the Canada Student Loan Forgiveness Program was being expanded to invaluable healthcare allies but continued to exclude many professionals, including #optometrists. We wrote a letter directly to the responsible Minister, The Hon. Randy Boissonnault PC, MP, on behalf of CAO. "... We urge the Federal government to acknowledge vision care as an integral part of overall health, and support access to optometrists in rural and remote communities. As primary eye care providers at the front line of vision health, optometrists play an integral role in the provision of timely health services and the overall wellbeing of Canadians. More than 1.2 million Canadians live with vision loss today, and over 8 million Canadians live with one of the four major eye diseases. Blinding diseases affect older adults (55+) at much higher rates, and as Canada’s population ages, the number of individuals affected by vision impairment will rise. However, 75 per cent of visual impairment is avoidable if detected and treated early. In 2019, the total cost of vision loss in Canada was $32.9 billion, resulting in 9.5 billion in direct health system costs. This consists of a total financial cost of $15.6 billion and a lost well-being cost of $17.4 billion, and is expected to grow to $56 billion by 2050. Yet, studies have shown that early access to diagnosis and treatment saves money in the long run. The federal government has a significant opportunity to act now by including optometrists in the Canada Student Loan Forgiveness Program to effectively address the access to care challenges faced by people who live in rural, remote or sparsely populated areas..." We also issued a joint statement along with our Extended Health Professionals Coalition (EHPC) partners: https://lnkd.in/gJNRT2TZ

Last month, I had a chance to share some thoughts with Robert Farrington of The College Investor for an article in Forbes titled “Who Should Be Saving for College, Exactly?” https://lnkd.in/eauaA9AT In this article, I share a few thoughts on how the recent changes to #studentloan repayment impact the decision for parents on whether or not to save for their child’s future college education. While repayment options are more generous than they have ever been before, and college costs are higher than ever, the future is uncertain. That’s why it’s better to focus on what you can control, such as saving, than dwell on what you can’t. From the article: "Circumstances change, and as you get closer to actually paying for your child's education, you can zero in on the details," he said. "Until then, don't look for excuses not to save, or you may be in for a shocking tuition bill in the future." #educationplanning #doctorslife #physicianfinance #whitecoat #fellowship #marriedtomed #marriedtomedicine #financefordoctors #youngdoctor #obgyn #orthopedicsurgery #futuredoctor #medicallife #studentloans #studentloan #residency #resident #doctormoney #attending #medicallife #pasgobeyond #pasdothat #physicianassistantfinances
