INTERVIEW with Maria Sole Ferragamo, founder of SO-LE STUDIO. Why did you focus mainly on two materials: leather and brass? Are you thinking of experimenting with new ones? "Well, leather has been the main material I've dealt with, mainly because I've worked mostly as an intern at factories producing luxury bags. Brass, on the other hand, comes from hardware scraps, also originating from the leatherwear sector. Currently, I'm considering other raw materials that can be transformed - there are many and varied - but I just need to make sure that the ones I 'encounter' meet SO-LE STUDIO's principles of lightness and durability." The Chanel Classic flap bag prices increased by 6% to 8% again this year with all Classic Flap bags now retailing for more than USD10,000. This move makes Chanel, once ranked in-between Louis Vuitton and Hermès in terms of prices, now almost on the same level as its competitor Hermes. At least this is how some bag lovers feel.
