Ok, this is hot off the press: We have just published our updated General Brochure here at EMBL that explains in a very concise form and with gorgeous design and images:
- what EMBL is (hint: a world-class laboratory doing fundamental research in molecular biology);
- how we are organized, governed, and funded (hint: an intergovernmental institution established in 1974, and today governed and funded by 29 member states);
- what science EMBL's researcher are currently pursuing (hint: "Molecules to Ecosystems", our 2022-2026 scientific programme); and
- the impact the work done at EMBL has globally (hint: lots, and too numerous to list in this post, but go check it out for yourself)
It's publications such as this one that are prominent reminders on why, after almost 14 years in the Legal Team at EMBL, I am still excited coming (ideally cycling) into work in the morning and wondering what my day will be like.
People I talk to often ask what work (and life) at EMBL is like, and I am usually answering how I was blown away (and still am today) by the collaborative spirit I found when I first joined; how I am intrigued by the curiosity and laser-sharp thinking displayed by our staff; how intellectually stimulating the legal work for all of us in Legal Services is navigating how an intergovernmental institution governed by public international law operates in a very distinct field of science and interacts and collaborates so closely with a very diverse set of stakeholders; and finally, that the diversity of people and matters we get in touch with are world-class.
Hence, if you are interested in the work done here, please check out the Brochure, and in case you have any other questions regarding the work of the Legal Team where I might be able to help, please drop me a message.
