As I reflect today, 9/12, on the anniversary of 9/11 this year, I couldn’t help but notice a steep drop in how it was remembered and discussed compared to years past. This shift troubles me because I believe it's essential that we don’t forget or trivialize such a tragic moment in history. Lives are precious, and we're all connected in this vast network of humanity, each of us striving to build community, foster connections, and improve the lives of those around us. What stands out even more vividly in my mind is not just the tragedy of 9/11 itself, but how on 9/12 we all came together. In the face of immense grief and shock, there was a sense of unity, compassion, and shared strength. We saw that when we stand together, we are capable of creating hope out of darkness. That sense of connection and humanity is something we need every day—not just after a disaster—to truly strengthen our bonds and build a better future for all. In thinking about this, I’ve also been working on keeping in better touch with my professional connections here on LinkedIn. LinkedIn often showcases mostly good news, but we all know life isn’t that simple. Everyone has bad days, but they often go unseen. I think it’s important to support each other beyond just job opportunities, offering a deeper connection and sense of community that reflects the kind of support we saw on 9/12. When we do this, we can help each other grow in ways that are truly unimaginable. Photo Credit: photographybyjrmills
