💡 Can we use #floatingwetlands to clean up wastewater and reduce greenhouse gas emissions? 🎙️ Catch Dr Lukas Schuster on ABC radio discuss our findings... Floating wetlands are buoyant structures that support native wetland plants. These plants have long roots, which provide a large surface area for #microbes to grow on and absorb nutrients from the water column. By reducing high nutrient levels, these plants can naturally filter the wastewater, potentially lowering emissions. Our research, in collaboration with Westernport Water and Clarity Aquatic, could present a promising #naturebasedsolution for sustainable wastewater treatment to combat climate change, while also providing incentives to adopt these practices.
