In #Europe, coal-fired power generation is still a major source of #power. By converting coal-fired plants to gas, emissions can be reduced by 50-70%. With global hydrogen production needing to increase over 350% by 2050 to meet the International Energy Agency (IEA) Energy Agency’s net-zero scenario, the focus is on scaling up low-emission hydrogen sources. Currently, green and blue hydrogen comprise just 1.1% of production but need to surge to 96.7% by 2050, highlighting the critical path ahead for clean energy development and infrastructure expansion.
