On February 12th, 2024, Mitsui reached an agreement to invest in LinkAja, an Indonesian based digital financial service provider. LinkAja is a subsidiary of 10 State Owned Enterprises (SOE), SOE subsidiary companies and 2 tech giants, which include Telkomsel, the largest mobile operator in Indonesia, Pertamina Retail, a subsidiary of PT Pertamina, a state-run oil & gas company, Grab, Gojek and other entities, ranging from financial services, infrastructure, and transportation. Since its launch in 2019, LinkAja has been providing digital payment solutions and its presence as a payment system platform for SOE products aim to drive the ecosystem of non-cash financial transactions and holistic financial inclusion in Indonesia. Mitsui & Co., Ltd investment is anticipated to significantly bolster its digital finance portfolio, particularly in the information & communication technology (ICT) and retail sectors, and provide opportunities for LinkAja and Mitsui to combine their various potentials and unique competitive advantages to contribute to Indonesia's digital economy.
