Undisclosed sum of money has been invested in LinkAja by the international trading and investment company Mitsui & Co., a few months after the Indonesian digital payment system provider achieved EBITDA #profitability. The company intends to extend its ecosystem and operations with this acquisition, which represents the first foreign #investment in LinkAja. This will entail collaborations with its state-owned enterprise (SOE) owners. LinkAja was first a service provided by the Indonesian telco Telkomsel before being split out as a joint venture with ten SOEs in 2019. Apart from Telkomsel, which owns the majority of the company, other #investors include state-owned banks BNI, BRI, and Bank Mandiri, as well as energy behemoth Pertamina. LinkAja redesigned its business strategy and reduced costs, including an 80% decrease in marketing expenditures, under the direction of CEO Yogi Rizkian Bahar. This contributed to the company's late 2023 positive EBITDA. Additionally, the business increased its emphasis on the SOE environment; LinkAja stated in a statement that it plans to stick with this #strategy through 2024. Additionally, the corporation has stated that it hopes to have a positive net income by this year. The investment would help Mitsui expand its digital banking business, particularly in retail and ICT.“As society continues to digitalize, we are also growing our focus on the value of the digital economy, including digital finance in Indonesia,” said Shinichi Kikuchihara, Mitsui Indonesia’s president director. 🔔 Breaking news! Prabowo Subianto has formally been declared as Indonesia's next president 🇮🇩 Foreign investors, brace for impact! 🌍 #Indonesia's economy is on a roller coaster ride, but this one's going up. With Prabowo at the helm, we're looking at a continuity of policies that have already boosted sovereign ratings. From developing commodity sectors to modernizing infrastructure, the agenda is disciplined and macroeconomic. What's more? The government's ban on unprocessed metals has catapulted Indonesia onto the global resource supply chain stage. Especially for electric vehicle batteries. 🚗⚡ But wait, there's more! The ambitious US$35 billion project to relocate the capital to Nusantara on Borneo continues. An epic 2,000km move from Jakarta. The vision? Transform Indonesia into an advanced economy, integrated into global value chains. Changes are afoot, including regulatory shifts to encourage foreign investment, a growing tax base, and deepening capital markets. It's not just about the short-term. It's about the long game. With a population nearing 300 million, competitive labor market, and increasing incomes, Indonesia is a land of opportunity. So, Western executives, it's time to adopt a long-term perspective. Welcome to the new era of business in Indonesia. The Prabowo era. 🚀🌏📈
