On April 9, the commission of FEDERACIÓN CANARIA DE EMPRESAS PORTUARIAS was convened for the presentation of the H2Heat project, specifically, the project manager, @Ana Marcos, explained the opportunities for collaboration within the framework of the actions of the stakeholder involvement plan, as members of the industry, within the Quadruple Helix led by the Cluster Marítimo de Canarias as a partner of H2Heat. 🤝 #H2Heat, coordinated by the Canary Islands Ocean Platform (Plataforma Oceánica de Canarias (PLOCAN)) and financed by the European Union under the #HorizonEurope program, aims, over the next 5 years, to demonstrate the complete value chain of the use of green hydrogen (H2) for the heating of public buildings intended for commercial use, with the CHUIMI hospital facilities managed by the Servicio Canario de Salud (SCS). #hydrogen #renewable #energy #healthcare

Rondo Energy officially joined the Cleantech for Iberia coalition last week! Great to represent Rondo at such a special moment. Cleantech for Iberia brought together key investors, innovators and policy makers at Unicorn Factory Lisboa for an in-depth discussion about Green Reindustralisation of Iberia, leveraging the abundant solar and wind resources. My key input was around the demand side flexibility in the energy system. It is crucial for the growth of renewables, stability of the power system and the decarbonization of the industry, all at the same time. But we need some significant regulatory changes to stimulate demand side flex as much as other flex options: a.      Supply side flex assets (e.g. gas-fired power plants) don´t pay any energy taxes or grid fees. b.      Grid neutral flex assets such as batteries have been exempted from grid charges and taxes – and rightly so! c.      But demand side flex assets are currently still paying the same grid costs and taxes/surcharges as non-flexible assets. Happy to see strong support of key stakeholders such as Salvador Malheiro, President of the Parliamentary Committee for Energy and Environment, sharing that “Cleantech is a bridge to a resilient and competitive economy. We need to create a supportive policy environment to catalyse growth on Iberia’s cleantech sector.” And Nelson Lage, President of ADENE - Agência para a Energia, who shared his strong motivation to boost cleantech in Iberia and to do it now.
