🔬 Last week, two colleagues from our institute and the DLR Institut für Fahrzeugkonzepte represented our joint project MEMAS (Meta-Data Enriched Manufacturing data for Automated Simulation) during the Summer Meeting organized by the Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration (HMC), which took place at the #GEOMAR research center in #Kiel. We had the opportunity to present our strategy towards a multidisciplinary digital framework for the #manufacturing, #testing and #simulation processes for additively manufactured #composite parts. The event led to very fruitful exchanges with other HMC funded projects around topics such as knowledge graphs, ontologies or metadata enrichment. We thank in particular the Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration (HMC) and GEOMAR Helmholtz-Zentrum für Ozeanforschung Kiel for organizing and hosting the event! 🙌 Project members: Roland Glück, Pradnil S Kamble, Mathieu Vinot and Nicolas Unger Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V. #dlrbt #dlr #dlrfk #HMC #research #digitalization #GEOMAR #compositeparts #manufacturing #simulation #additivemanufacturing #RoboticScrewExtrusionAdditiveManufacturing #automatedfibreplacement #AFP #forschung #digitalisierung

[#Laser] Recently teams of #LULI - laboratoire pour l'utilisation des lasers intenses and #Thales have carried out successfully the final tests of the new front end of the multipetawatt system part of #APOLLON, a large research infrastructure project led by CNRS - Centre national de la recherche scientifique and l'École Polytechnique and located in France on Plateau de #Saclay. Thales has provided this front end integrating its best technologies to date, in particular in terms of temporal contrast and spectral width of the laser pulses , ensuring in the same time a high level of performance combined to excellent stability and reliability verified on a daily basis. These features will enable the most demanding requirements for applications such as high energy protons acceleration and will confirm the prominent role of Apollon in the worldwide landscape of ultra high intensity laser infrastructures able therefore to attract the best French and international researchers to do their experiments. Thales is proud to increase its contribution to this flagship project, after having delivered some years ago several high energy ATLAS pump lasers which are used to pump the main amplifier and contribute to deliver currently a peak power of 4 petawatts. This is another landmark of the collaboration between CNRS and Thales over decades on intense lasers which has been reinforced through the creation in 2021 of HERACLES3 joint research laboratory between #CNRS, l'#EcolePolytechnique, l'ENSTA Paris and Thales. #science #innovation #future #particleacceleration #laserplasma #intenselaser

Apollo #Accelerator Cohort 4 Demo Day is 29 October 2024! See a demo of some of the great work done by 59 organizations, companies, and academic institutions over the last 3 months in the SDA TAP Lab. More has been accomplished than can fit into 3 hours, so we encourage you to stick around afterward to network. Highlights include tip/cue automation for recovery of unknown and lost objects by optical, RF, and non-earth imaging sensors as well as international collaboration with allies and partners. We continue to mature previously developed prototypes and move toward tighter integration into automated workflows. We are also excited to announce our plans to build a full prototype battle management system, which we will operate in support of the Victus Haze mission in late 2025! Learn more at Apollo Accelerator Cohort 4 Demo Day! #space #innovation

🌍 Reflections from the International SPADs Workshop in Trento 🌍 I recently had the opportunity to attend the International SPADs Workshop, hosted by Fondazione Bruno Kessler - FBK in the beautiful city of Trento: an extraordinary meeting that brought together some of the brightest and most pioneering minds in the field of single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs). While most of the presentations focused on the innovation and utility of SPADs, my contribution took a slightly different angle: radiation damage. Interestingly, while most participants were discussing how to build better SPADs, I was the only one explaining how to destroy them! Jokes aside, radiation damage on SPADs is a critical area of research that highlights the resilience and limitations of these devices, especially in aerospace applications. Beyond the technical discussions, what emerged most was the human connection that allowed a valuable exchange of ideas with brilliant researchers. Thanks to all who made this event so special. It was not just a professional meeting, but a reminder of the power of the collaborative spirit and shared passion for the advancement of science. We look forward to the next meeting and more enlightening conversations! #issw2024 #fbk #radiationdamage #SPADs #SiPMs

📢 We’re thrilled that the #SESAR has selected for funding two proposals submitted to the ER2 call coordinated by the UPV’s SNA group. U-AGREE is a non application oriented ER project that will be executed by an amazing consortium of 10 outstanding partners that will pave the way for improved risk models for #UAS operations covering more hazards on the ground, developing more accurate collision models, and accounting for the mitigation effect of U-space services on either the ground and the air risks. U-AGREE aims at contributing to new, enhanced releases of #SORA. On the other hand, SATERA is an an application oriented ER project in which a consortium composed of 6 top level companies and research institutions will explore the feasibility of a space-based composite ADS-B + WAM and the development of a WAM-based estimator of ADS-B data integrity in the space environment. Stay tuned for updates! 💪 #HorizonEU #DigitalSky #Uspace #ATM #UTM ITACA Institute - Institute of Information and Communication Technologies Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV)

This year will be a year full of firsts in my PhD journey. ✨️ Yesterday, I had my first presentation at a conference! It was at #EuCAP2024 (European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP). I presented one of our measurement campaigns that I did with my colleague Varvara Elesina for the TIMES 6G project! If you want to have a look at the paper, you will find it under: Varvara V. Elesina, Carla E. Reinhardt and T. Kürner "Channel Measurements in Workspace with Robotic Manipulators at 300 GHz and Recent Results"
