Why do cats sometimes eat their own kittens???Cats eating their own kittens is a rare and distressing behavior, usually driven by specific circumstances. Some possible reasons include: Health Issues: If a kitten is sick, weak, or has congenital defects, the mother may instinctively euthanize it to prevent disease spread or conserve resources for the healthy kittens. 🏥🐾 Stress and Anxiety: A highly stressed or anxious mother cat might resort to this behavior, especially if she feels threatened or if her environment is not safe.Lack of Experience: First-time mothers may sometimes inadvertently harm their kittens due to inexperience or confusion. 🐱👶 Nutritional Deficiencies: Severe nutritional deficiencies in the mother can lead to desperate behaviors, including cannibalism. 🥩🍗. Inadequate Maternal Bonding: If the mother has not bonded properly with her kittens, she may not recognize them as her own and might harm them. 💔🐈

Caring for a Depressed Cat at Home If you notice behavioral changes in your cat, your first step should always involve consulting your vet. That way, you can quickly rule out other serious underlying ailments that could be affecting your cat’s behavior. At home, these extra pet care steps could be just what your depressed feline needs to feel better: Provide more mental stimulation in the form of playtime or engaging new toys. Offer up some extra affection to show your cat how much you care. Try addressing a lack of appetite by adding extra broth to your cat’s meals. Just make sure to clear any dietary changes with your vet ahead of time.

Strategy Consultant | Ghostwriter | Email Marketer🐾Empowering pet care professionals to fetch full calendars of rebarkable clients through the art of storytelling, the science of sales, building pawsitive relationships.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐎𝐮𝐫 #𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝑫𝒊𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒂𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 #𝒅𝒐𝒈 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 10-13 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔? This depends of course on the breed specifics and the environment in which that dog lives, but just a decade or so is what is expected when a new furry friend is brought into the family pack. 𝐼 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑘 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑖𝑠 𝑓𝑎𝑟 𝑡𝑜𝑜 𝑙𝑜𝑤. And while many dogs live what conventional wisdom would view as long, healthy lives- with the average life expectancy increasing steadily over the past few decades- many dogs are still dying much sooner than they should. The rise in chronic diseases in dogs - and cats, too - is alarming, and increasing exponentially year after year. What’s more, these diseases can be both treated, and prevented all together, with nutrition, movement, connection, and mental stimulation. 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐭. Conscious lifestyle choices made for your furry friends throughout their lives are the biggest determinant of how long they’ll be a part of your life, and how healthy that lifetime is for them. Ultimately, the lifespan and healthspan of your four-legged kidz comes down to four things: ✅ Feeding them less ✅ Feeding them more fresh food ✅ Letting them move more ✅ Getting them moving more often And of course, regular wellness checks with your pets care provider, to catch any pesky problems early. 𝑰𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚, 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒉𝒖𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕, 𝒕𝒐𝒐. And it’s my opinion that the way we eat, don’t move, isolate, work too much, and zone out when we’re home, is exactly why our best friends are suffering chronic diseases and disabilities like never before. We are, too, and our fates are intrinsically tied together. After all, as Rumi observed, "𝑊𝑒'𝑟𝑒 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑤𝑎𝑙𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ 𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 ℎ𝑜𝑚𝑒."

I'm a naturally optimistic and upbeat person AND I can hit the doldrums too... My cats are my daily dose of joy, even in the bleakest moments. No matter how cr@p I feel, seeing my fur kids or giving them some scritches always lifts my spirits. I suspect it's because our pets love us unconditionally - at our lowest, our best, with or without makeup, fat or skinny, rich or poor... There’s nothing quite like the sound of a satisfied purr or the silky softness of a dog’s ear when you’re feeling a bit glum. My animals always make me feel like home! So if you need an instant, smile-inducing and free glimmer - cuddle a pet (granted, not all cats like cuddles so use your discretion)! The science tells us that interacting with animals can increase oxytocin levels (which builds trust, improves relationships and even promotes growth and healing),it lowers blood pressure, and decreases cortisol – that nasty stress related hormone that’s causes havoc when the levels are too high. If you need a quick surge of feel good hormones – pet an animal. You’ll be doing yourself a favour and the beastie will bliss out too! #PetLove #CuddleTime #GlimmerHunting #DailyGlimmer #SelfCare #BestSelf #GlimmerGift #GlimmerGirl #KittyLove #AnimalHealing #TheFeelGoodFormula #happybrainhappylife INTERESTING FACTS: A study published in “Psychosomatic Medicine” found that pet owners had significantly lower heart rate and blood pressure levels during stressful tasks compared to non-pet owners. Read more about why having a pet is good for you… The Benefits of Pets for Human Health Animals are important in many people's lives. They can improve mental and physical health and help with therapy or rehab. Even ordinary pets have amazing benefits. https://lnkd.in/d-JRBf5h

In addition to simple stress, our four-legged friends can also suffer from mental illnesses. Depression, anxiety or obsessive-compulsive disorder are not uncommon. Unfortunately, the diagnosis is made more difficult by the communication barrier. To recognise when something is wrong with your dog's health, you should look out for changes in behaviour: Sudden changes in appetite, sleeping behaviour or irritability and aggression can be clues. Changes in social behaviour, destructiveness and uncleanliness also do not occur on their own. Last but not least, depressive behaviour, lots of licking and biting, obsessive-compulsive behaviours and disorientation can also be signs. If your pet develops a change in body language, this is also a good way to better assess their health. Just be aware that these symptoms can always indicate physical discomfort and can also signal physical illness. Genetic predispositions are also a major factor in the development of mental illness. Dobermans, for example, are known to often develop acral lick dermatitis; herding dogs often stare at shadows and German shepherds and bull terriers often chase their own tail. If you suspect that your dog has developed an illness, the first thing to do is to visit the vet to rule out any physical causes. The next step is a visit to a behavioural specialist or animal psychologist. There, your four-legged friend can be treated with systematic desensitisation and counter-conditioning or the training of alternative behaviour. Not only mental illnesses are a result of genetic predisposition and influencing factors. A holistic approach is also crucial in the training of orthopaedic disorders. Welcome to the 1st Annual GCC Presents Summer Series. This year we are partnered with our friends at GrowthPlay and we are so excited to share our love of our furbabies! #BusinessGrowth #MarketingSolutions #MarketingStrategy @kellyrizo Check out our Howl of Fame https://1l.ink/6Q46CLT So without further ado....... Pets and Our Mental Health People of all ages find that having a pet improves their mood, lowers their stress, and eases loneliness. The responsibilities of pet care can be a soothing routine that helps people focus and organize their days. Pets provide unconditional love and companionship to their owners in good times and bad. There is real science behind the mental health benefits of owning pets. The simple act of petting animals releases an automatic relaxation response. Humans interacting with animals have found that petting the animal promoted the release of serotonin, prolactin and oxytocin- all hormones that can play a part in elevating moods. The benefits of animal companions range from heart health to helping with stress and anxiety. Question: What does your Fur Baby do exactly, to make you happy and enrich your mental health?

"When 'I'm fine' becomes routine, we can miss the signs. Like pets, people in your life may struggle more than they show. Veterinary professionals often experience emotional exhaustion, long work hours, difficult client expectations, and burnout. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, here are some warning signs to look out for. No matter who you are and what you do, if someone in your life shows one or more of these signs, they may be asking for help. A listening ear can make all the difference. ❤️ #nationalsuicidepreventionmonth #suicidepreventionawareness #mentalhealthmatters #vetmed #veterinarymedicine #southernveterinarypartners
