#HotOffThePress - Wärtsilä and Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) designed to provide customers with optimal service support. The MoU encompasses maintenance and repair services, specialised maintenance services including upgrades and the latest eco-friendly reconditioning technology, decarbonisation and retrofit projects, like 2-stroke radical de-rating services, the dual-fuel conversions, cooperation on engineering services and training, using Wärtsilä’s Land and Sea Academy facilities. Wärtsilä and Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions will also work together to offer ship owners and operators expert guidance on all available options for decarbonising their operations. “Shipping is in the process of a rapid transition to more efficient and sustainable operations. For this transition to be successful, collaboration and partnerships between maritime stakeholders is essential. By working together, the services we deliver to owners and operators are of premium quality. Let's take a maritime trip down memory lane 🛳 Aalborg's maritime history dates back more than 550 years when the first shipyard was established in the city. Over the centuries, shipbuilding became the backbone of the local Aalborg economy, with several shipyards and related industries rising along the waterfront. At one point the shipyard employed more than 3.000 citizens in Aalborg. And almost 230 ships and other new buildings were built during the yard's lifetime. Though the shipyard closed back in 1988, leading companies have emerged from the remains. Today the maritime industry in Aalborg includes ship supply, boiler production, marine pump manufacturing, ballast water management systems, automation software, real-time tracking solutions, satellite navigation and much more. 📷 Aalborg Stadsarkiv
