The authors of "Riociguat inhibits ultra large VWF string formation on pulmonary artery endothelial cells from chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension patients" use fluidics on our microscope for platelet perfusion shear rate experiments. "Fluorescently labeled platelets were perfused over PAEC with a syringe pump with a unidirectional shear rate of 2.5 dyn/cm2. Phase-contrast and fluorescent images of three chosen regions of interest were taken every 30 seconds with an Etaluma LS720 microscope using a 20× phase-contrast objective." #livecellimaging

Great to see robust real world data to help update risk stratification and shine a light on such a high acuity disease. Producing quality data will lead to more tailored approaches & appropriate management of these patients, which will drive down mortality & improve QoL. 👏🏼 #thefutureisbright #PE #pulmonaryembolism

Journal of Intensive Medicine Conclusions CS is a life-threatening condition characterized by acute end-organ hypoperfusion due to inadequate cardiac output that results in multiorgan failure and even death in a nonnegligible proportion of cases. Hemodynamic monitoring allows for early recognition, classification, and precise phenotyping of CS cases, leading to a targeted management scheme that contributes to better patient outcomes. In addition, IHM using an algorithmic approach for managing CS with the rapid deployment of MCS is nowadays the preferred approach, as it is associated with a reduction in mortality.

🩸 New data from the APEX-AV trial on treating acute pulmonary embolism with catheter-directed mechanical thrombectomy using the AlphaVac system shows promising signs! The prospective trial in 122 patients with acute intermediate-risk pulmonary embolism found: ✅ Significant 35.5% mean reduction in overall clot burden at 48 hours ✅ Substantial 0.45 average decrease in right ventricle/left ventricle ratio, indicating improved right ventricular function ✅ Minimal major adverse events (5 patients) and no deaths ✅ Short 37 minute average procedure time These promising safety and efficacy results suggest catheter-based thrombectomy could become an important treatment option for many acute pulmonary embolism patients. #Thrombectomy #Vascular #MechanicalThrombectomy #MedTech

The clinical program behind the CADScor®System is comprehensive, with the Adopt CAD, BIO-CAC and Dan-NICAD clinical studies forming the basis for CE marking and FDA De Novo clearance. Click here to review the Dan-NICAD II study, which concluded in a large contemporary cohort of patients with low coronary artery disease (CAD) likelihood, the additional use of an acoustic rule-out device showed a clear potential to downgrade likelihood and could supplement current strategies for likelihood assessment to avoid unnecessary testing. #Acarix #CADScorSystem #CAD #coronaryarterydisease #ruleout #pointofcare #chestpian https://lnkd.in/gazkcZWH
