I have 28 days left until my long-awaited NYSC Passing Out Parade! Anyone close to me really knows how I've been counting down the days. As I write this, I can’t help but wonder: have I truly achieved a lot professionally? It’s so easy to get caught up in the comparisons we see on LinkedIn. We scroll through others’ successes and sometimes feel like we’re falling behind. But let’s always remind ourselves: our journeys are uniquely ours. Each of us runs our own race, with different paths, challenges, and milestones. Celebrate your progress, no matter how small, and focus on your own growth. Remember, it’s not about where you stand compared to others, but about how far you’ve come. Keep pushing forward—your journey is just as valuable! #ProfessionalGrowth #NYSC #Journey #POP

For these young men, and in all of the ONSE signature Pathways Program classes, the Wilson Building engagement with leaders is that pivotal moment when their transition can best be recognized. In 2025, ONSE will shift from 3 cohorts to 4 cohorts per year. And, it is worth it!
Participants in the ONSE Pathways Program - our 18th Cohort/Class - recently spoke with DC city leaders about what concerns them most. Workforce development, inclusion, connecting residents of Wards 7 and 8 with DC government services that are available to all. These 25 graduates (Ambassadors) of our signature program, a group at a high risk of involvement with gun violence, stood 'ten toes' in their commitment to live safer, stronger lives. We're proud of them.

My NYSC DIARY DAY ONE After we were checked in at the gate, we had some set of people orientate us on the registration and in camp process. They asked us to mention the name of the Director General of the NYSC but then we couldn't answer and we had to check the Call-up letter we had all printed by ourselves which we've been unable to pay attention to the details. You know how things are now? Daddy went on to lecture us on the importance of reading and paying attention to details. So lesson One: The reading culture is important, while also paying attention to details📌 Up next was the registration process, which went pretty well. I'm so blessed that I got the perfect sizes of my NYSC kits, for the one's I couldn't get, I saw ready people on ground who I exchanged with. To my current highlight of the day: the parade session 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾 Soldiers are intentional people ooo, not as hard as I thought. One literally told us today that when he shouts at us, he expects us to be bold and respond to him accordingly! This place is not for the timid guys, so that you won't cry and run back home. There was also one experience I had today that taught me to make the right confessions. When the soldiers were asking if we were hungry, we answered in the negative. Ask me why this is so important, because life will pose a lot of issues at you and your reality might cause you to shake, but nevertheless, you've got to keep looking at the goal amd do the needful at the moment. So, my second lesson for the day; Stay bold when life presents issues at you. Yeah it's my first day in camp and I hope I enjoy myself to the fullest! I'm Esther Popoola, the shining light! #nyscdiary #nysc #naijacorpers #orientationcampexperience #oyocorper
