💬 What advice would you give to your 20- year-old self? What could be better than a Saturday brunch in a warm circle of GSOMers? Summertime — a great excuse not to put off inspiring networking indefinitely 😉 ‘GSOM alumni meetings are a guaranteed refresher, they are always full of warmth and enthusiasm. I love being part of the GSOM Community, seeing familiar faces and meeting new talented people. If there are no upcoming meetings, I enjoy organising them,' — Dmitry Zaitsev, a 2015 graduate, told us. 🤝 GSOM alumni occasionally meet in Moscow on Sundays to have a great time together. It's nice to get together and talk about the warm things that have passed and the important things that are still in the pipeline. ❓We asked the guys:   ‘What advice would you give to your 20-year-old self?’ Sharing alumni insights:   ✅ Get more involved in activities — both curricular and extracurricular. This will help you realise what's truly interesting, expand your network of contacts and develop soft skills.   ✅ Find more opportunities to socialise with university friends.  ✅ Don't be afraid to try and accept offers that seem unrealistic.   ✅ Be confident and never give up.   ✅ Choosing the right environment to move forward. For those that are interested in the last post I published and asked me about Mabindu: She got to Boston at 3:30am today. She left Monrovia on Saturday morning. This is how she looks after more than 72 hours of airport drama. Mabindu is 18! The first thing she asked me when she got here was if I was ok. This shows the level of resilience and selflessness that only a human being with amazing inside resources can manifest. This fall, with the help of SHE-CAN, she will start her fully sponsored undergraduate degree at Babson College. What you can do: 1. Get involved with SHE-CAN. With your help, they can help more Mabindus of the world. In addition to sponsoring a girl, you can help the organization to negotiate agreements with colleges, and help find the scholars a part time and/or a summer job. Please consider. 2. Never ever underestimate someone who, from your perspective, might be in a “disadvantaged” position. These individuals have internal resources that none of us can see with our limited vision. Just, and only, play your part to help them paint their vision for their lives. 3. Start to practice gratitude. We have SO much in our lives that we have become blind to them. It is good to remind ourselves from time to time how absolutely blessed we are to live in this country that I now call home. Selfnote: I am absolutely an audience for notes 2 and 3 above.
