Collegiate Recovery Programmes, or CRPs, are designed to support students and staff who strive for recovery from substance use, alcohol, or behavioural addictions, while achieving success in higher education. CRPs create environments within existing campus cultures, and wellbeing programmes, where people in recovery feel safe, supported and valued. Research from the 150+ CRPs in the United States has found that CRPs contribute to both successful recovery from addiction, and improved academic outcomes when compared to the general student population. Then join us at EGOS next summer for the sub-theme on Civil Society Organizations and their Communities: Unpacking the Spatial Dimension of Local and Global Organizing, which I am thrilled to convene together with Anna Domaradzka & Christoph Brandtner   This time the SWG (3) focus on the local (grassroots, urban, neighborhood-level, etc.) and the transnational dimension of civil society organizing, as well as the connections in between, asking how the interplay between spaces and places shapes how we organize activities and ideals of civic action. And vice-versa: how are these spaces and places shaped by the organization of activities and ideals.   By encouraging a focus on communities (both local and global) rather than nations, on grassroots connections that form new constituencies, where the space-based ideas (like ‘right to the city’) define the organizations’ practices. What do BridgeUSA programs mean to you? What does it mean for America? If you don't know, BridgeUSA programs promote U.S. foreign diplomacy through various opportunities, where both Americans and Foriengn Countryman connect, share ideas, learn from one another and build life long relationships. I can't express how important it is to not just us as a nation, I'm knee deep in seeing the amazing impacts of these programs. The development individuals experience on a personal and professional level is amazing. Don't just sign this, but help advocate for FY25 (Fiscal Year 2025) funding of these programs. These funds not only help us in on the ground, but it helps these programs have the proper oversight from the top down! #exchangesmatter

With all the debate around young people and social media, AI, mobile phones etc etc there has never been a more important time to use research evidence that is rigorous and - most importantly - child and youth centred. Register for our 1-day event to learn how leading researchers from around the world are using child and youth-centred methods to engage young people meaningfully in media and communications research!

Thank you for having registered for our May 4th Debate Tournament, or emailed for more information. Once again this tournament is for students who are “new to debate”  they are students who are now learning the skill and may have attended 1 or 2 tournaments prior, but have absolutely no experience. We shall be running with 3 rounds of debate in Canadian National Style – Rounds 1 & 2 will be prepared on the motion below and also on our website. Each team will have an opportunity to debate both sides of the motion. Which side you will debate in rounds 1 & 2 will be announced the morning of the tournament, as you will be prepared for both sides. Round 3 will be a fun impromptu round that will not require any research. Reminder that during prep for the impromptu round it should be done with just the knowledge you and your debate partner have to share with the judges. The tournament shall be on zoom, between 8:30 and 11:30 AM Pacific Time. The speaking times will be 6/6/6/6/ with 3/3 minutes reply speeches at the end. Reminder that the opposition if the first reply speaker. The government side starts and ends the debate. Rounds will be judged to provide feedback only. If you can provide a judge that would be appreciated. There is no cost to attend the event, but do sign up early as spaces are limited and it is open to students across the country. We would sincerely appreciate that should you sign up and then decide not to partake a polite email letting us know would be appreciated.
