We’re not ones to gatekeep knowledge. Last Friday we had a meeting with an ERG group at a big tech company that asked us “How can you drive engagement in your community and business as an ERG Lead?” and we jumped at the opportunity to share my experience. Driving engagement in Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) is key to fostering an inclusive and dynamic workplace. From our experience leading the Women’s Inclusion Network at Yahoo and consulting for top tech companies, here are 5 actionable strategies to elevate your ERG’s engagement: 1️⃣ Establish regular monthly meetings with your community to maintain momentum. 2️⃣ Leverage various communication channels to gather diverse insights on problem areas and suitable solutions. 3️⃣ Engage your ERG Executive Sponsors to champion your cause. 4️⃣ Regularly explore what drives your members and create a natural succession plan. 5️⃣ Consistently share progress and celebrate wins to keep morale high. By implementing these steps, you can create a thriving ERG that not only supports its members but also drives meaningful change within your organization.
