On June 13, 2024, members of the Echo Alliance received free skin cancer screenings as they learned more about the Mary Bird Perkins On the Go program. MMR is proud to support Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and its efforts to ease the burden of cancer within our community. MMR sponsors the Echo Alliance, a collaborative group of passionate women dedicated to moving the needle in cancer care, and the Prevention on the Go program, which delivers on-site cancer prevention and education efforts to underserved groups. In 2023, MMR worked with the family of late coworker and friend, Holly Hollis Stars, to create a permanent endowment within the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center Foundation, in honor of her life and courageous battle against cancer. The Holly Hollis Stars Endowment will further enhance the resources that the On-the-Go Program provides to our community. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Every day, about 23 women are diagnosed with breast cancer – and that is only in Sweden. But the chance of being cured has increased. Thanks to the advances in research, almost 9 out of 10 survive! Together, we can help to ensure that fewer people are affected, and more people survive. In Sweden that means it is also the month of the “rosa bandet” (pink ribbon) The Cancer Foundation's Rosa Bandet campaign runs during October each year with the aim of raising money for research and to raise awareness about cancer in general. 1 out of 3 of us is developing cancer of any kind at some point in life but all of us are affected by it in some way already now. Everyone knows at least 1 person, in worst case more than that, that has either won or lost the battle against it. I encourage you to spread awareness and donate money to help research progress. (not only but especially in October) If you are in Sweden you can do it the same way I am-by buying the rosa bandet and wearing it out!🎀🎗️ (it's a new design every year) Link to read about and buy the “rosa bandet”: https://lnkd.in/dztbhZE7 Link to “early detection of breast cancer”: https://lnkd.in/dxGwEAEF

💗 October is the NBCF's Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 💗 Taking place yearly each October, the aim of Breast Cancer Awareness Month is to educate and shine a light on the devastating effects that breast cancer has on thousands of people each day. This year, we at C&L Tool Centre will be getting together for a staff pink morning tea in support of BCAM and encouraging as many donations as possible to contribute to valuable research. Breast Cancer impacts millions of lives every year and extends from patients to their families, friends, colleagues, and community. Being the second most commonly diagnosed form of cancer in Australia, 58 people are diagnosed and 9 people lose their lives to breast cancer every day. Thanks to research, the survival rate has climbed from 76% to 92% in the last five years - and is continuing to grow! By donating to the National Breast Cancer Foundation this October, you will be providing a valuable contribution to achieving the vision of Zero Deaths from Breast Cancer. It is from these donations that vital research, early detection initiatives, risk prevention, and improved treatments can be funded; and bring us closer to a world without breast cancer. Knowledge is power, and early detection can save lives! #breastcancerawarenessmonth #nbcf #cltoolcentre

Raising $13,250 to accelerate breakthrough cancer immunotherapy research, the third annual Birdies & Brews was a great success! The Cancer Research Institute is so grateful for the continued support of Rob and Leah Royall, and all of their friends and supporters who attended this year's tournament. After losing both of his parents to cancer in a short period of time, Rob and his wife Leah decided to design an event that could both honor their memories, and raise money for cancer research. "When we were selecting an organization to donate our proceeds to, we wanted to find one that would impact people who might be in a similar situation that Rob's parents were. While they knew that clinical trials might never heal them, they knew that they could potentially impact others, and so they both participated in them," Leah shares. "We are hopeful that our contribution will impact the research and science behind a future immune to cancer." "We appreciate the fact that CRI has one of the lowest overhead expense ratios, and also has a goal of finding a future immune to cancer. We feel that our money is actually going towards a future that would be better for all of us. The more we promote our tournament, the more stories we hear about how others have also been impacted by cancer. We continue doing this type of fundraiser because we know that Rob's parents would do anything for others, and we want to be a part of the science and research that will create a cancer-free world." #CancerResearch #Immunotherapy #TeamCRI

But amidst the challenges cancer brings, there’s a beacon of hope—the Jimmy Fund. By donating just a few dollars, you can help fuel groundbreaking research, provide life-saving treatments, and support those battling cancer every day. Why Your Donation Matters Funding Groundbreaking Research: The Jimmy Fund supports the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world leader in cancer research. Your donation helps scientists develop new treatments and work towards a cure. Even a small contribution can lead to significant breakthroughs. Providing Patient Care: Cancer treatment is not just about the physical battle; it’s about emotional and psychological support as well. The Jimmy Fund ensures that patients receive comprehensive care, including counseling, support groups, and family services, all of which are vital for their journey. Collaboration is essential in achieving any goal, and when it comes to addressing a critical issue like cancer, it becomes even more crucial. The UIS Cancer Foundation Charitable Trust has understood this fact and has taken the initiative to collaborate with nine other local NGOs to work together towards the betterment of cancer patients. By joining forces, these organizations can share resources, knowledge, and expertise to provide more effective and efficient support to those suffering from cancer. This partnership will not only help in improving the quality of care for cancer patients but also allow for a more comprehensive approach towards creating awareness in the community. With the combined efforts of these NGOs, the fight against cancer can become more robust, and the impact on society can be significant. By working properly and smartly, this collaboration has the potential to make a real difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families, as well as creating a positive impact on the community as a whole. Overall, this collaboration serves as a prime example of how unity and cooperation can bring about positive change in society, particularly in addressing critical issues like cancer.

This February is oesophageal cancer awareness month – a chance to spotlight the UK’s 14th most common cancer and one of the six less survivable cancers highlighted by the Less Survivable Cancers Taskforce. Supporting primary care to detect oesophageal cancer early is essential, which is why we’re working with South East London Cancer Alliance to create bitesize online modules that pinpoint the key signs, tests and referral pathways for oesophageal cancer. Education resources like this are one crucial way we can support the goal of the Taskforce charities, led by Guts UK Charity, to double oesophageal cancer survival rates by 2029. #OesophagealCancerAwarenessMonth #CancerEducation #CancerCare #PrimaryCare #LessSurvivableCancers
