How to prepare for an earthquake: - talk to your family about the earthquake, conduct safety exercises; - set a safe place at home/at the workplace (a loaded wall and concrete column); - Always keep a bag with some food and water, a medical bag, important documents, money, flashlights and hot clothes in it; - Keep the lobby and exit areas of the house clean of items already. What to do during an earthquake: - Know that you have only 10 to 15 seconds to leave the building safely when you feel the first trigger; - Take a precautionary bag and your mobile phone when you leave the building; - turn off gas, water and electricity from the general network; - leave the building and stand in an open and safe place; - stay in the building if you can't leave in 10 to 15 seconds; - don't use an elevator; - don't jump from the top floor; - Go to the safe place you assign; - if there is a table, go under it; What to do after the earthquake: If the earthquake has struck you outside the building and there has been a collapse: - help the victims if possible, give them first aid; - Do not approach the ruined places. - first accurately evaluate the conditions and then decide to enter the building where you live; If the earthquake happened while you were at home and there was no wreckage: - Use a flashlight, not a mattress or a flashlight, if an earthquake hits you at night; - Leave the building by extinguishing gas, water and electricity from the general network; - if there's a small fire, try to extinguish it with your own power; - If the fire cannot be extinguished independently, go to a safe place by helping children, wounded and disabled; - Follow the latest information about the earthquake and follow the instructions.

Author of "Let's talk about mental health and safety" and "HAZOP Questions". HAZOP, LOPA and SIL trainer.
LEST WE FORGET I am (so far as other constraints permit) making a daily post of process and other safety events which have happened on that day in previous years. I will intersperse these with mental health and safety incidents, since my twin passions are process safety and mental health and safety. This is to promote thinking and is based on the theory that, by and large, we don't invent new ways of killing people: we fail to adequately learn from the mistakes of the past. On 13th April, 1970, the Apollo 13 explosion occurred. https://lnkd.in/efGGfSte What can your organisation learn from this? Have you read my books “HAZOP Questions”, “HAZID Questions” and “Let’s talk about mental health and safety”?
