Attending InnoTrans is essential for anyone involved in passenger transportation or passenger information. Every year, the event impresses with its scale, not to mention the presence of entire trains and engines. This year was no exception. 💡 We took a close look at the offerings for real-time passenger information, both for indoor and outdoor use, and as experts in #ePaper with a focus on using #Eink material, we noticed some key highlights: ❌ To our surprise, several companies now offer 3-year and even 5-year fixed/primary battery solutions. While it's clear that customers prefer "little or no hassle" options, are they aware that these batteries are discarded after just 3 or 5 years ⁉ ✔ We strongly believe solar power is just as convenient, potentially lasting longer than 5 years. It's not only far better for the environment but also more cost-effective in the long run. SLA batteries are both cost-efficient and recyclable. ✔ Color ePaper is definitely on the horizon, but since energy availability indoors is usually not an issue, adoption is expected to be gradual. ✔ Most integrators agree that black-and-white ePaper remains the best option for outdoor use, though it does require some sales effort to convince customers. The road to InnoTrans 2024… part 2. Remember, it is a marathon, not a sprint 😉 ⏪ InnoTrans 2014 ⭐ Growing orders. A Desiro City train was on display for the announcement of our Thameslink train order in the UK. At €1.8bn, it was Siemens’ largest ever order in the UK and we would go on to deliver 1,140 rail carriages, which offered 50% more capacity. It included two world-class depots offering long-term service and maintenance with predictive maintenance and digital monitoring. ⏪ InnoTrans 2016 ⭐ Mireo: THE regional and commuter platform! The success of our Desiro led to the development of its little brother the Mireo. We called it ‘Intelligence on Rails’ at the time, and if I could go back, I would add ‘sustainability, and flexibility.’ The modular approach has gone on to be hugely popular and available in various formats and alternative drives to match local needs. Other highlights from the event included the Velaro for Turkey, and the C2 Metro for Munich. 🤝 The year after InnoTrans 2016 we acquired Hacon, signaling our move into software to fuel our digitalization growth further. #TransformMobilityForEveryone #TeamSiemens #InnoTrans2024

What an incredible time we had at InnoTrans that week with the Migo Consult team! The rail supply chain truly came out in full force, and it was amazing to see so many more delegates this year. The UK definitely made its mark, with both major rail suppliers and innovative SMEs contributing in a big way. The Migo team had a whirlwind week packed with engaging meetings, new partnerships, and plenty of fresh ideas for future collaboration. We were especially excited to attend some standout sessions on topics like boosting rail freight productivity through digitisation, AI-powered transit optimization, and the rollout of ETCS. Sustainable Logistics in Action: Duvenbeck Unternehmensgruppe Makes Final Round for the German Logistics Prize! Through a groundbreaking project with AUDI AG, the Duvenbeck Group is taking bold steps toward a greener, more efficient supply chain. Their innovative “Relay Zero Supply Chain” project cleverly combines truck and rail services to reduce emissions and boost productivity! Key highlights of this eco-focused achievement: • Rail as the Backbone – Audi’s rail-based system integrates truck trailers directly into the #logistics chain, thanks to Helrom’s patented loading technology. This minimizes the need for expensive terminals and streamlines delivery. • Decarbonizing from Start to Finish – The project reduces road travel by 185,000 kilometers every week, slashing CO2 emissions by up to 11,500 tonnes per year. Plus, biogenic fuels like HVO100 are used for initial and final deliveries! • Seamless Tracking – A digital control tower at Duvenbeck’s Niederaichbach site tracks every delivery across 500+ kilometers between Regensburg and Lébény, with a daily train carrying 36 trailers over this eco-efficient route. CEO hakan bicil proudly shared that climate protection and innovative partnerships are at the heart of Duvenbeck’s strategy. The project’s success reflects their commitment to decarbonizing logistics with Audi and Helrom. “Climate protection and sustainable transport solutions are fundamental elements in our corporate strategy. To reach these goals, we need innovative ideas such as those that we’ve introduced to supply factories with our partners, Audi and HELROM. Our excellent result in the final round of the German Logistics Prize shows us that we’re on the right track when it comes to decarbonising supply chains through combining our operations with other industries.
