The past couple of months have been epic for Aegis Living. Dr Raj Dasgupta joined the company as Chief Medical Officer to take the health and wellness of associates, residents and families to the next level, focusing on living better for longer. The opening of two incredible communities: Ballard and Laurelhurst. Both are beautiful, category-defining buildings led by passionate leaders and a supportive Home Office team. The new campaign “Aging is Life” launched last week in partnership with Little Hands of Stone to reset the narrative about aging and the senior living category. The future is incredibly bright with strengths in every part of the organization, a beautiful new community under construction in San Rafael, and more category-shattering strategies on deck.
These were only a few of the reasons that I chose to join Aegis Living as their COO. The culture that attracts and retains the best talent, provides development and growth opportunities for their team, supports individuals to be their true and authentic self, and let’s them contribute in a meaningful way will win. It will create loyalty. It will generate raving fans. It will be creative and jump outside of the box in ways the industry hasn’t seen.
Unfortunately, this all coincided with the untimely passing of my incredible wife, Ashley. We were excited to put her cancer battle behind us and jump into life in the Pacific Northwest. She saw the smile on my face when I talked about the people I met at Aegis and the work they were doing. She saw the youthful energy return and the skip in my step with this exciting opportunity. That’s who she was.
Dwayne J. Clark Chairman/CEO/Bestselling Author, Sandra Preyale and the entire team were incredibly supportive through this difficult time. We had many tough conversations about what I needed, what my kids needed and what the company deserved. In the end, the best for all involved was to pivot and for me to stay in Orange County with the incredible community we have built over decades and for Aegis to look for a leader who could dedicate the necessary time and energy to collaborate with the team to take the company to the next level. This company and team come with my highest recommendation. If you are in hospitality and looking for a fulfilling career at an entrepreneurial company, I encourage you to consider Aegis. What they are doing is the highest form of hospitality. Please message me if you are a GM looking to make a career change or a senior leader that could be a fit as their next COO. I will do anything in my power to support this great company and would love to connect you.
As for me, I am launching a new venture that I will share soon. Cheers to the next chapter.
