Interesting approach taken here by the DPP to restructuring the upper echelons of the CPS: These two new DG posts at Crown Prosecution Service (paying up to £150k, with the recruitment handled by a third party) will sit above the [not long ago created] Directors of Legal Services, themselves sitting above the Chief Crown Prosecutors. Puzzling as to why recruitment is not done in house for these posts, in contrast to the other roles mentioned. For comparison these salaries would be roughly equivalent to six lawyers, and in the context of a recent freeze in recruitment for certain roles.
