No Matter How far We Come, Our Parents are Always in Us ~ Brad Meltzer ㅤㅤㅤIn general, my primary desire for teaching was fueled by my upbringing in an educational family. My parents' dedication to the field has sealed the deal for me, long before my teenagehood. After getting my Baccalaureate, I enrolled at university, where my focus began shifting towards English in specific. I got my BA in English Literature, and embarked on my English teaching journey. ㅤㅤㅤLanguage is a powerful tool, as it bridged various cultures together since the dawn of time. This effect is further propagated in today's globalized world, where effective English communication became crucial for both personal growth and professional success. As an ESL teacher, I strive to provide guidance for non-native English speakers, who seek to learn and master the language. ㅤㅤㅤMoreover, I feel a responsibility to share my accumulated knowledge with my students, with the goal of helping them express themselves and connect with the world, previously confined within the restraints of language. Not to mention the diversity present in each student's background, rich in different habits, perspectives and experiences. ㅤㅤㅤFinally, I strongly believe in the nobility of my profession, as teachers are considered second parents to students. And what kind of parent would not feel joy when their children successfully integrate in their communities, especially when they helped prepare for said integration?

🔓🔓 TIPS FOR TEACHING ENGLISH FOR EACH AGE Different age groups require distinct approaches from Native English teachers in Vietnam: ✳️ For adults: • It's essential to differentiate between language proficiency and intelligence. Teachers should demonstrate patience and respect when students encounter difficulties, maintaining a supportive tone, body language, and attitude. Recognizing individual strengths and being humble and respectful toward students is crucial. • Curriculum content should be practical and tailored to adult needs, such as workplace English, job applications, and interviews. • Since adults may easily become discouraged by challenges, fostering confidence and providing clear learning pathways can enhance their readiness to learn further. ✳️ For teenagers: • Establishing a comfortable classroom environment involves integrating topics of interest, such as sports, music, or movies, into English instruction. • Building rapport and empathy with teenage learners encourages open communication, allowing teachers to identify and address learning obstacles effectively. ✳️ For children: • The key lies in engaging in activities. Starting with games like "Simon Says," incorporating interactive exercises, and concluding with charades can greatly enhance children's enthusiasm for learning. • Movement is essential; teachers should anticipate children's need for activity and prepare various materials and contingency plans accordingly. • Communication with children should be gentle, avoiding shouting. Using applause to establish learning rhythms, such as clapping to introduce new content, and tapping on tables to signal reading, can effectively engage young learners. 👉We are looking for English Teacher, see more: https://lnkd.in/gA9qEppu #EIVeducation #tipforteaching #EnglishTeacher #Nativeteacher #TeachinginVietnam

English Teacher @LOGOS School Indonesia | Freelance SEO Content Writer | Former English Teacher @SMK Telekomedika Bogor | English Literature Graduate
A month teaching as an English Course Teacher to be an English Teacher for Junior High School. I just finish frazzle month and going to repeat it again since I'm new here. We just finished 3 meetings to teach students about The Alphabet (Alphabet Sound, Spelling Name and Address, also Phonics). I taught 5 classes whose the students are in the 7th and 10th grade students (SMP, SMA, SMK). We encourage them to join this English Class in order to make them speak more in a good way, also to achieve our "bilingual school" dream. Each classes has 15-18 students. I drilled them one by one to practice. It's interesting how to see them trying to sounds like a native speaker. Here are the challenges when I taught and the solution. - For the uninterested students (because they are tired) : we need games, explain the lesson in an interesting way, involve them to speak. - Students do not understand some instruction : repeat the word one by one, translate. - Students hard to sounds some phonemes : I have certain treat for this one but hard to explain because I need to show it. The key is I learnt it from the English Native speaker. - Students are shy to speak : ask them to speak every time they meet me or want to talk to me. - Some students speak English well : they can speak well, but their knowledge about English is limited, as long as I can deliver it in interesting way. - Students absorb the lesson in a long time : I need to drill this one for a little bit longer. The teaching evaluation results will be released, can't wait to see if I'm capable or not in teaching English Course in this school.

So, what are the main qualities of a good English teacher? In our opinion, they include great communications skills, confidence to deliver a great lesson plan, not being afraid of the challenges that come along with an engaging audience or the ability of showing empathy and patience to learners. All teachers should be passionate about their work and versatile but also should be able to connect, empathise with students and inspire them. Teaching English as a foreign language requires an excellent understanding of both verbal and non-verbal communication and maintaining student engagement. Students attending your class should feel a bubbly excitement of success and improvement and have clarity on what is expected of them or areas of improvement needed. Good teachers will empower students and make them feel great about themselves and tap on their strengths and weaknesses alike with a clear view on how to improve. Students need guidance, direction and the opportunity to practice in order to improve themselves. There isn’t just one method of teaching English and a good teacher will adjust the lesson plan, the topics, the method, the synergies in order to get the results, the students are looking for.

I help English learners and ESL teachers speak confidently, embracing accents and finding their unique voice through immersive practice. 🗣 🎓 Certified English Teacher. Actor.
It's Not Mandatory for a Likeable Teacher: Being friends with all students Agreeing with every opinion Providing endless support It's Also Not Mandatory for a Qualified English Institution: Prioritizing English-Only Policies Having only native teachers on staff Expecting students to master every aspect of grammar In the domain of ESL education, there are many things that "must be" one specific way. But after more than 20 years of teaching and interacting with students of all ages, some are more important than others, which is why I: --Try to empathize with students --Show that I can be opinionated --Know that learning happens when there are emotional connections (which sometimes occur in the mother language) Not everyone is going to like you. Speak up for what you believe is beneficial in your classroom. It´s okay to admit that you don´t know everything. Ask yourself better questions: -Am I grounded when I interact with students? -Can I set realistic expectations for myself and them? -Am I fostering emotional connections, even if it means occasionally using their mother tongue? Take matters into your own hands so that you are not at the mercy of circumstances. Your students will learn by example. You will not change the system, but it can certainly eat you up when you´re feeling exhausted, frustrated and undervalued.
