🚗 Excited to share our latest research on vehicular localization for driver assistance applications! 🚗
In collaboration with Dinithi Silva, Sanduni Kaushalya, Vidura Ravihansa, and guided by our mentor, Kasun Hemachandra, we explored a solution that addresses the limitations of existing localization systems. Our paper, "Vehicular Localization Using Mobile Devices for Driver Assistance Applications," delves into a more accessible and cost-effective alternative using mobile devices.
Traditional approaches relying solely on GPS, Wi-Fi, or cellular networks often face accuracy challenges. To overcome this, we implemented a hybrid map-matching model that dynamically switches between an on-device map and the open-source Valhalla routing service, providing precise vehicle location even with limited connectivity.
Our findings show great potential in improving driver-assistance applications with this innovative hybrid approach, reducing the need for external sensory devices while enhancing accessibility and reliability. 🚘📍
Grateful for the collaboration and mentorship in this journey. Looking forward to the next steps in advancing this field!
