Delighted to have moderated a panel session on "Promoting Electric Mobility in the MENA Region" at the Middle East Rail & Mobility Live 2024 event in Abu Dhabi. Our panelists discussed key EV market trends in the region, challenges hindering widespread adoption, and the crucial role of policy and regulation. A highlight was Peec Mobility, a UAE-based start up and a UICCA partner, showcasing their innovative approach to repurposing vehicles from petrol to electric, offering significant environmental and economic benefits. Key insights from the discussion include: - Putting a robust and enduring mandate in place to encourage investment and innovation in the sustainable transport sector - Expanding EV availability to meet different consumer preferences and needs - Crafting and timely implementing strategic incentives for manufacturers, innovators, and users - Conducting a comprehensive feasibility and consumer behavior study for different EV infrastructure options (types, locations) by engaging multi stakeholders including governments, real estate developers, operators, and academia - Incorporating a streamlined regulatory process for new technologies to efficiently integrate innovative solutions into the market Grateful to Heiko Seitz and Zach Faizal for their invaluable contributions. In alignment with our commitment to green mobility, UICCA released a report on “Green Mobility in the UAE”, outlining bottlenecks across the entire value chain, international and national case studies, and policy considerations. Who is taking the lead in CCS development in the Nordics—Sweden, Denmark, or Norway? The answer is; we all are! This week, I had the pleasure of joining an inspiring #CCS debate, masterfully moderated by Camilla Brox. Representing Team Sweden, I teamed up with my incredible colleague Karolina Unger from KLIMPO. From Team Denmark, we heard from the sharp minds of Lars Bruun Sørensen, Ørsted and Mikkel Krogsgaard Niss, CCS Zealand. Team Norway brought powerful insights from Alexander Engh, Norwegian Ministry of Energy and Markus Sebastian Hole, Hafslund Oslo Celsio. The key takeaway? Collaboration across Nordic borders is not just beneficial—it’s essential to accelerate the CCS journey. Together, we’re laying the groundwork for a thriving climate industry. Our shared ambition? That 2025 becomes the breakthrough year for the #CCS industry. A year when projects in all Nordic countries take decisive steps forward—investment decisions made, shovels in the ground, and real progress underway. The Nordics have the expertise, the drive, and the shared commitment to make this happen. Are we ready to lead the way? I believe we are! 💚 🇸🇪 🇩🇰 🇳🇴 💚 Öresundskraft Helsingborgs stad #tillsammansfor17
