There is much talk of supervised brushing in schools and on such threads a lot of responses rightly say it’s a parents job. Yes it is! Decay in children’s teeth is not just an issue in deprived areas. There will be parents in my LinkedIn network who have young children that have needed a filling!! There is lack of education for all of us. More later on what mydentist can do to bridge that knowledge and education gap….. However an interesting point many of you may not know…. You should supervise your child’s brushing until they have the manual dexterity to tie their own shoe laces. So until they are 6-7 years old. I brushed my sons teeth until he was 7.5 years old. I am still with him when he does it. He might think I am a dentist because I go on about it so much 🤷♀️ Thought I would share this point so those who care to protect their childrens teeth from decay can choose to change their approach if they did not already know this. #oralhealth #knowledge #helpingthenationsmile mydentist (UK)

Have you ever seen an owls ear? 👂 Now you have! Owls have asymmetrical ears (the left is lower than the right and slightly angled downward). This enables them to work out the location of sounds using the ‘inter-aural time difference’ (how long it takes for the sound to reach the right ear, after the left). Hidden behind the stiff facial disk, owls have a moveable flap they use to reduce the level of sound - particularly sensible when lowering the noise of wind turbulence when flying. The ear cavity is so large you can see some of the internal structures inside the head, including the eyeball! Long Eared Owls have some of the largest ears, reaching from the jaw almost to the top of the head. The clip above is a developing tawny owl ear, belonging to one of our Rehabilitation Hospital inpatients! #owls #owlear #nowyouknow VD: clips showing a perched Tawny Owl, Barn Owl and Long Eared Owl before showing a close up video clip of an Owl Ear. Then showing more clips of a Tawny Owl facial disc.

🚽 When you are using the toilet remember these important Dos and Don'ts! ✅ DO: 💦 Drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated! This will help both your bladder and bowel movements! 🌬️ Relax your pelvic floor muscles by gently breathing outward. Visualize that you are blowing out a candle that is across the room. 🎂 🧻 Sit all the way down on the toilet seat. Line the seat with TP if necessary. ❌ DON'T: 🐻 Bear down! 🤧 Blow your nose! 👉 PUSH to eliminate either from your bladder or bowels. 🚁 Hover when you pee. 💡 Pushing or bearing down applies a ton of pressure to your bladder that over time can wreck havoc on your urinary system. 🗣️ Remember: taking care of your pelvic floor today, will help your pelvic floor health in the future.
