A multi-species microbial feed product outperformed single-species products during a disease challenge with Clostridium perfringens, Eimeria and other pathogens, according to research presented at the 2024 International Poultry Scientific Forum by Kevin Bolek, Ph.D., microbials innovation director, Phibro Animal Health. Compared to challenged birds fed the single-species feed product, those fed the multi-species feed product demonstrated better performance and health outcomes. “Direct-fed microbials are increasingly used to improve the gut health of birds and, in turn, productivity outcomes. But there are different types of products available, containing both multiple- and single-species products,” Bolek said.
