operator while the Hitachi lifts it out of this trench, but this would likely get the attention of an OSHA aa CSHO cruising by this site. I'm confidant UR wouldn't be happy with this.
It never ceases to amaze me how surprised folks are by the "driveby" inspection. OSHA has been doing them for twenty or more years, so it's nothing new. The complaint that they aren't fair is equally perplexing to me- at the end of the day it's just another unprogrammed inspection.
There are two kinds of OSHA inspection, the programmed and the unprogrammed. The latter happens after a fatality or catastrophe, in response to a complaint, as a result of a referral, or as a result of a driveby. No warning or notice comes with any OSHA inspection and, in fact, it's illegal for OSHA to give notice of an inspection.
We might be surprised by the driveby, but that's how it's supposed to be with all inspections. What you're doing in plain view is fair game. #odworkplacesafety #OSHA #construction #excavation
