Hurricane Beryl is on our minds right now but we need to always remember that building in hurricane-prone areas presents many challenges, not the least of which is windstorm and flood insurance. Good design that utilizes tough and resilient materials like Megaacrete autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) wall assemblies is key. It is important to consider high winds, debris impact, and intense exposure to wind-driven rain. Building in Texas requires meeting Texas Department of Insurance requirements and Texas Windstorm Insurance Association inspections which AAC solutions can help you meet.

With the Atlantic hurricane season firing up, I think of flood insurance. We are often asked if flood insurance is required. In some cases, yes, flood zones require flood insurance, but as a broker once shared with me, 90% of all flooding is from fresh water. We recommend flood insurance on every home. 100, 500, and 1,000-year floods are often the headlines now. Extreme weather events are happening more across the country. Of course, we don't like paying for it, but we will want it if needed. Live Joy 🌴☀️⛰ #WednesdayWonders #GuilletteGroup #LiveJoy #SWFLRealEstate #HighCountryRealEstate
