This decision comes on the heels of a recent event hosted by the Laidler Group, which brought to light some surprising and concerning misconceptions about the differences between architects and home designers in the context of multiplex projects. Next week, we’ll embark on a five-part exploration aimed at demystifying these views and reinforcing the architect’s crucial role in shaping vibrant, functional, and economically robust communities. They offer resources, knowledge-sharing opportunities, and professional development through discussion forums, conferences, publications, and local chapter activities. While this session focused on custom residential projects, the emphasis on collaboration resonated deeply with anyone involved in the broader residential architecture field such as Multi-Family or Senior Living. The session highlighted the importance of fostering strong collaboration throughout the design process. • Ensure all parties involved, from developers and builders to operators and potential residents, are included in discussions early and often. 🏗️ 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙎𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩: 875 𝙉. 𝙈𝙞𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙣 𝘼𝙫𝙚 🌆 Since moving to Chicago, I’ve been struck by the city’s incredible infrastructure and architecture. I’ve decided to start showcasing some of my favorite spots around the city, and there’s no better place to begin than with my favorite building, 875 N. Michigan Ave (formerly the John Hancock Center). As someone who works in infrastructure software, I truly appreciate the seamless blend of engineering and design that makes this structure so remarkable. 🏙️𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 875 N. Michigan Ave isn’t just known for its height—it’s an engineering marvel, featuring unique X-bracing that allows for more open floor space without sacrificing stability. This structural innovation makes it a must-see in the world of skyscrapers. 💡 𝘿𝙞𝙙 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙆𝙣𝙤𝙬? When completed in 1969, 875 N. Michigan Ave was the second-tallest building in the world and still ranks among the tallest in the U.S. Its observation deck on the 94th floor offers one of the best views of the city, and it was among the first skyscrapers to incorporate a mixed-use design, combining offices, residential spaces, and retail.
