Continuing #ConstructionSafetyWeek2024 - Building the Right Safety Habits, Daily! In construction, safety programs are essential but don't ensure safety alone. Understanding job risks and forming good habits are crucial. Daily safety briefings play a vital role by fostering habit-building and providing a framework for safety discussion: 1️. What specific work are we performing today? 2️. What dangers do we face when performing this specific work, in this environment, around the other people doing their work? 3️. What are we doing to eliminate or mitigate these dangers? What can go wrong? What will we do and NOT do if something does go wrong? 4️. What specific tools and equipment are being used by who? Are they properly trained, and have they proven their proficiency with that tool or equipment? Who is supervising them? 5️. Finally, has anything surprised us or fallen through the cracks that we need to address to keep each other safe today? If we're not intentionally taking time to build the right habits, the wrong and unsafe habits will creep in through complacency and the chaos of the job site. Programs, policies, and protocols are good guides, but it’s the people that truly make the difference between safe and unsafe. -Chris Saltzman, VP of Operations

This morning, we held a safety and health toolbox meetings yet – a clear testament to our team's dedication to maintaining a safe workplace. As we gather within the dynamic backdrop of our ongoing construction project, I am continuously impressed by the collective wisdom and proactive mindset of our workforce. Key Takeaways: Vigilance: Every team member reaffirmed their commitment to stay vigilant – accidents are best prevented when we are all actively engaged in safety practices. Communication: Open lines of communication were emphasized as crucial to identifying and mitigating potential hazards. Education: We rolled out new safety protocols and reinforced ongoing education about personal protective equipment (PPE) and machinery operation. Empowerment: Workers were encouraged to speak up without hesitation when they observe unsafe conditions or behaviors. It's more than just a meeting; it's an ongoing conversation about our well-being and a reflection of our culture that prioritizes every individual's health and safety above all else. #SafetyFirst #ToolboxTalk #HealthAndSafety #ConstructionSafety #Teamwork #PPE #SafetyCulture
