Can We Assess International Mindedness (IM)? 🤔 This question was recently posed by a colleague, sparking an interesting discussion. International mindedness in IB is reflected through the development and assessment of ATL (Approaches to Learning) skills and the Learner Profile attributes. Here is a breakdown for clarity: Direct Assessment: Not explicitly assessed as a standalone concept. Indirect Assessment: Achieved through evaluating subject-specific ATL skills and the IB Learner Profile attributes. Contextual Learning: ATL skills are taught in contexts that are either local or global, fostering a broader worldview. In summary, assessing ATL skills and the Learner Profile attributes indirectly assesses international mindedness, as these elements encapsulate the values and perspectives needed to develop globally aware and responsible individuals.
