I Inspire Aid Workers Improve Their Creative Writing Skills || Food Security and Livelihoods Practitioner.

Imagine you're reading a detailed report. And you felt overwhelmed by complex sentences and jargon… Do you feel reading more of that? What if I told you simplicity in writing is your secret weapon. See… in the humanitarian aid sector, clarity is king. Don’t sacrifice simplicity for complexity… Because… Simple sentences are powerful to communicate ideas. They cut through the noise—are clear, direct, and easy to understand. And the impact? Immediate understanding and action. For example read this sentence: ”𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘭𝘶𝘹 𝘰𝘧 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴, 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘣𝘺 𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘬𝘴 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦”. Compare this to: “𝘐𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨”. The second sentence delivers a clear message. It tells your audience what actions to take. Always simplify your language—and your message becomes stronger.
