SYSVOL or System Volume: When you set up a DC, a folder called SYSVOL is created, where public information and data that should be available at the domain level are placed. This information is usually used to perform the Replication process of your Active Directory information. SYSVOL is actually a set of files and folders that are located on the hard disks of all DCs in a domain and these files and folders are synchronized with each other using File Replication Service. Clients on the network can access the commands and data provided by the Domain server through the SYSVOL folders. All the policies that are created in a domain and especially the policies related to DCs as well as the logon scripts that must be executed on the domain members are located in the SYSVOL folder.
