A PRICELESS GIFT FOR YOURSELF: TREASURING EXISTING FRIENDS AND REKINDLING RELATIONSHIPS FROM THE PAST Daniela Alina Plewe PhD Thank you for the wonderful feedback and direct messages about our "Friends Replacement Rate?" post last week. https://lnkd.in/g7sNAr4c With the festive season ante portas, it’s the perfect time to treasure those already in our lives — or reconnect with friends and acquaintances from the past. While not all efforts to revive old bonds will be fruitful - and while Ageless-Societies.com is dedicated to fostering new connections - we all know how many hours, meals, or walks it takes to share the decades of our lives. Reconnecting allows us to revisit missed opportunities and renew potential bonds. Those who knew us in earlier stages of life understand the unique context of those times, making it easier to pick up where we left off. As we grow ageless, we also can become more open and tolerant. Relationships may no longer hinge on procreation or raising children, which once demanded closely shared values. Even dating can feel lighter, approached with humor and less pressure. Let’s look forward to the festive season and make the most of it. We are thrilled to welcome Nina Singh-Madan to the team! She will play an active role in building and engaging our communities among other initiatives. Welcome aboard, Nina! Gary Dugan, Markward Michaelis, Nina Singh-Madan, Simon J. As we approach the holiday season, it's crucial to reflect on the care and respect our elderly loved ones deserve, especially in care homes. Unfortunately, there are still instances where private care home owners prioritise profits over the well-being and dignity of the people they are meant to care for. Some choose luxury holidays over providing the high-quality environment and support that elderly residents truly need. XHAL.UK and Kuldeepuk Kohli are addressing this deeply concerning issue, focusing on ensuring that care homes offer the best treatment and respect for our elderly. This is not an attack on all care homes but a call for greater awareness and accountability. We urge care home owners to shift away from profit-driven motives and dedicate their resources to providing genuine care. Kuldeepuk Kohli, along with volunteers and Generative AI, is actively working without financial gain to tackle this long-term issue. This initiative is about raising awareness and reminding us all of our responsibility to ensure our elderly loved ones receive the care they deserve, particularly during a time when many are focused on celebrations and leisure. We will all grow older and one day require the care of others—let’s ensure it is there for us, with the respect and dignity we all deserve.

As well as my first day back after the festive break yesterday was also the 5 year anniversary of me joining the Health Board. Lots has happened in that time, a pandemic, a new role and a secondment. Lots of projects, lots of change, lots of moving forward. Alongside that lots of challenge, lots of failure, lots of changing direction, lots of negativity, lots of pressure. A constant has been people. Good people. Supportive. Willing. Open. People who wanted to get on board and deliver. People with vision. Some hugely talented people who I am often in awe of. Of course the opposite of all of those is true and I have encountered some blockers and some truly terrible people. It takes all sorts to make the world go round is a mantra that has gone through my head lots in that 5 years. I joined an organisation that was in Special Measures. It then came out of special measures to subsequently go back into them again. There has been a lot of turnover at a senior level which has impacted on vision, delivery, stability and trust. It’s been hard. When I left my last NHS role I swore I would never return for many reasons that are as valid today as they were then. But here I am. Still here. Still working. Still wondering what will come next. What I am certain of is that no matter what labels are on this organisation. No matter what all of the noise says. In amongst all of the issues (and there are many) there are some wonderful people doing some amazing work that is massively (and positively) impacting on the health and wellbeing of the population of north Wales. To my wonderful colleagues I have only this to say. Keep being you, keep on delivering what you do so well, innovate and drive that change. It’s hard. You will wonder why sometimes. But the outcomes are always enough to carry us on. A special thank you to Clare for wonderful worlds that got me through my first day back yesterday (you were right). Also to my team Becca Callum Angie Julie Annona Lindsey (and the others who aren’t on here) for being really inspirational and talented. You drive me every day and your dedication shows through all you do. Also a big thank you to Chris and Paolo for all you do and have done. #reflection #anniversary #SpecialMeasures #people #talent

The holidays can be the busiest time of year in healthcare, but they also hold incredible opportunities to reconnect with the heart of our work in healthcare. Amid the hustle and long hours, there’s something truly special about celebrating the season with the patients and residents we serve. Whether it’s sharing a moment over a favorite carol, helping decorate a room, or simply listening to stories of holidays past, these moments remind us that joy and connection flow both ways. For caregivers and managers alike, these shared celebrations can do more than lift the spirits of those in our care—they can rejuvenate our own. In the laughter of a resident, the sparkle in a patient’s eyes, or the gratitude in a simple “thank you,” we find renewed purpose and energy to carry us through even the busiest of days. Let’s remember that healing isn’t just about medicine or tasks completed—it’s about creating moments of light and connection that leave lasting impacts on both those we care for and ourselves. This holiday season, let’s take a moment to celebrate together, to pause and share in the magic of the season with those who rely on us most. In doing so, we may just find that the best way to care for others is to let their joy rejuvenate us. #HealthcareHeroes #HolidaySpirit #WorkLifeBalance #CompassionInCare

To all the caregivers of people young, old, and in-between making holiday magic this year while also 🧷 changing diapers or gastric tubes, 📆 booking well-child appointments or specialist visits, 💕 working from a place of love in and outside the home, 🙏 THANK YOU 🙏 and 🎆 HAPPY HOLIDAYS 🎆 ! Caring for one another, both in our homes and in our communities, both at the micro and the macro level, can be an exhausting endeavor. But by bringing us closer to one another, it can also be a source of true joy. In healthcare, it's our raison d'être, or at least it should be. May 2025 bring us closer to the triple aim: ⭐ Better patient & family experiences ⭐ Better population health ⭐ Better cost effectiveness
