The New Startup Reality: Success Takes Time Gone are the days when startups were built overnight. As this data from Carta shows, the “overnight success story” for startups now stretches to over 15 years in many cases. From seed funding to Series D, the median age of startups at each funding round has steadily increased. This signals a shift in the ecosystem where growth, scaling, and success demand more resilience, maturity, and persistence.

This is great sense for #founders... ...but let me add a caveat to the golden rule... ...and customers are prepared to pay for it. Loads of people will tell you they want something...until they see the bill. Why do you invest the time in falling in love with the problem? To identify a great solution that you can #monetise. This isn't Romeo and Juliet. This is business. What is #productmarketfit if it isn't a solution that you're successfully monetising? #AngelThink

A top reason start-ups fail is lack of product market fit. I hear #tech founders and entrepreneurs talk as if customers are not smart enough to value their product or service. In fact, they build something that lacks a market or customer willing to buy.
