This involves the exploration of novel membrane #materials, such as graphene oxide, #carbon nanotubes, and various nanocomposites 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲: Energy consumption is a significant concern in RO processes, particularly in desalination applications where large amounts of energy are required to overcome osmotic pressure. Efforts are underway to develop #energy-efficient RO membranes that require lower operating pressures, as well as to optimize system designs and incorporate energy recovery 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Membrane fouling, caused by the accumulation of suspended solids, organic matter, and microbial biofilms on the membrane surface, remains a major challenge in RO systems as it reduces permeate flux and increases operational costs.
