Chief Administrative & Sustainability Officer at O-I Glass, Inc. | Operational Excellence | Sustainability | Communications | Public Affairs
It's a special experience to start with an idea, watch your team believe in it, and witness them bringing it to life! Even better to feel the love from the community that partnered to start one of the 1st Glass4Good programs. Glass4Good started as a vision 💡 from our CEO Andres Lopez. The vision was to find a way to #partner with our local #communities to bring #glass #recycling and do it in a way that would help with community need. The G4G team took the idea, started from scratch, and bought that vision to life. It took lots of hard work, collaboration, and partnerships. Turned out to be a labor of love for the team. Not only does the community value the availability of glass recycling, O-I's donations have helped the local Danville United Way to support a community partner that supplies books to children, an organization that provides transportation for cancer patients, and a food pantry. So you might understand why an article like this is special to us here at O-I. We love #sustainability at O-I, but more importantly, we treasure the collaborations that are key to really bringing it to life! #leadership #innovation #circulareconomy Ken Larking Charles Wilborn https://lnkd.in/eqNwzViz

As more people and community groups work with us to bring recycling to local areas, we've had the opportunity to turn recycling into funding for charities. Hats off to OneStreet St Ives whose recycling event raised funds for KYDS Youth Development Service Inc So, your old electronics are getting a second life, helping to power local small businesses while providing funding for essential services like KYDS. Not a day goes by that I am not discussing "sustainability" with someone. "Scope 3" - only 12 months ago, it was hardly discussed at all in regular circles - today, it is raised in every single meeting... how will this change over the coming year? As understanding grows - the appetite for action and impact will only intensify. #Volunteering #recycling #SaveTrees #Inclusion Are you looking for a unique volunteering opportunity that allows you to contribute to three key causes at once? Look no further than the Used Paper Bags Program! By building a lot of 100 used paper bags for reuse, you'll be helping with Recycling, Saving Trees, and Inclusion all at the same time. To get involved, simply DM me and I'll connect you with an NGO registered under the program that is in need of paper bags. Your task will involve collecting 100 used paper bags (with handles) repairing them if necessary, affixing a green message sticker on each bag, and packing them tightly in a used cardboard box or sack before dispatching them by post. The cost of sticker printing and transportation is covered by the said NGO, so all you need to do is contribute your time and effort. If you're passionate about the environment and helping others, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Remember, as Bob Kerry once said, "Unexpected kindness is the most powerful, least costly, and most underrated agent of human change." Let's save trees, one sheet at a time. KANDIVALI RECYCLING GROUP

🚨Recycling update in Wales From April 6th, a new workplace recycling law will come into effect. This means all businesses, charities and public sector organisations will be required to sort their waste for recycling, just like most households do. A fantastic step in the right direction and one we're pleased to see. If you have locations or sites that operate under Welsh law and want to find out more on this new regulation, click the link below. https://hubs.li/Q02dy_Mh0. Need help with compliance? 🥥 Food production, processing, & packaging 🥥 Sustainable Food Forest agriculture & agroforestry 🌳 Non Profit Board & Strategy 🌳 Solar Electricity (PV) & Electromechanical 🌳 Community Engagement & Organization
Couldn’t agree more! It’s why we have been pushing so hard for so long for public urban food forests here in State of Wisconsin. For instance in City of Milwaukee we have The People’s Orchard on public land, in fact it’s on a major road on the way from the highway to the University on the tallest natural hill in the whole city on 1st and Locust. Jim Spotts, Gretchen Mead, Tim McCollow, and Steve Jerbi are just a few of the leaders involved with this one. https://lnkd.in/gQmtpyye In City of Green Bay we have the Seymour Park Food Forest in a city owned public park right by our main downtown Broadway district. This was a joint project between the city and a number of local non profits and the public in that community. Kaurie Mihm, PLA, NEW LEAF FOODS INC, myself, and many others were involved in getting this expanded. We even wrote one of the first publicly available Comprehensive Maintenance Plans that outlines who is responsible for what. We then shared it with others, such as the nearby Universalist Church Food Forest, so they didn’t have to start from scratch. https://lnkd.in/gBFfJa5G Big public facing urban ag food projects like these really get the public interested in more! #foodsecurity #communitydevelopment

So this rainbow doesn’t have an actual pot of gold under it, but it is just as special! 🌈 🥇 It’s the legendary Rob Brown, Stuart Borg and Keith Fernandez (behind camera!) from Recycle4Change and the sorting machinery required to process millions of bottles and cans for the Victorian Container Deposit Scheme at their new Point Cook facillty! For anyone who knows Fruit2WorkAus, you know the incredible impact they deliver to the Victorian community. Fruit2WorkAus employees who have come into contact with the justice system have a recidivism rate of 0% compared with nearly 50% in the general population in the first two years. It’s been wonderful to watch this dedicated group of people deliver Recycle4Change, adding huge environmental benefits to their already exceptional social impact. By 2028 Recycle4Change aims to: ♻️ Recycle 200 million drink containers 💰 Faciliate $20 million in community donations 🍃 Cut local pollution in half Thanks so much for the sneak peak before the official launch in a few weeks time - can’t wait to see this in full swing! #socialenterprise #socialprocurement #vcds #socialvaluecreation
