Thanks to him, what started as a revolutionary way to facilitate literacy and opportunity has evolved into a game-changer for accessibility. Braille literally helps us see things from different perspectives. As we celebrate today, let's commit to making our workplaces more inclusive for everyone. From accessible communication to supportive technologies, small steps can make a big impact. So, let's raise a metaphorical toast (and maybe a real one too—coffee, anyone? ☕) to the power of Braille. The memories are endless and only matched by the lessons learned. My teams in Lubbock, Amarillo and Clovis are the reason to celebrate these 4 years. You guys make the communities you serve even better. You provide care for so many beautiful souls. To celebrate these four years. Here are some lessons learned: 1. Most hard decisions are made easier when wearing adorable slippers. My favorite office nickname to date is slippers. 2- When encountering an intense situation don’t handle it in isolation. My team has great ideas, I just have to be intentional at asking good questions. If you feel like you are over-communicating. You are probably just now communicating enough. 3- Plan for fun and always have a pulse on your energy as a leader. I can be intense and I know that about myself so I schedule fun with my team. That looks different everyday and from team to team but that is really where I get to learn about them and they are the most important thing. 4- Protect the culture. It is the foundation of who we are and how we thrive. Here’s to the next year! The best is to come!

"My purpose: to lift your spirit and to motivate you." -- Mavis Staples   I had the privilege to attend Mavis Staples' 85th (!) Hometown Birthday Celebration here in Chicago 🎂 Her unstoppable spirit and passion for how her audience felt was incredible--you could really feel how much she cared (it wasn't just words)! 🫶   And it made me think about how we need to bring that passion into how we care for and interact with our teams--especially in December and January when the focus is on "what" needs to get done, often overshadowing the "why" and the "who."   As we navigate the year-end craziness (both personally and professionally), here are a few things that might help to focus on your team: 🟪 Prioritize meaningful check-ins: Take time to check in on how your team is doing—not just at work, but personally. 🟪 Celebrate small wins: Recognize progress, no matter how small, to keep morale high. 🟪 Show gratitude: A simple “thank you” can go a long way in making people feel seen and appreciated (make it specific, timely and authentic).   Amid the craziness, think about Mavis at 85 years old-- don't forget the unstoppable power you have to impact and motivate those around you. You got this!
