The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has unveiled a new report. It highlights the underutilized potential of wastewater, revealing that just 11% of treated wastewater is reused, while nearly half of untreated wastewater still enters our natural water bodies, contributing to environmental and health issues. The report also states that with the right policies and management, wastewater can become an alternative energy source for millions. By generating biogas, heat, and electricity, wastewater can produce five times more energy than it consumes. Proper wastewater management can help nations adapt to climate change, reduce water insecurity, and offset a significant portion of the global agricultural nutrient demand by reusing vital nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. This report also showcases successful wastewater management examples from countries worldwide and encourages governments and businesses to consider wastewater as a circular economy opportunity, offering job creation and revenue potential. At Moleaer, we're thrilled to see the report shedding light on the incredible potential of wastewater. Our nanobubble technology is poised to be at the forefront of this journey, and we're proud to be playing our part in wastewater innovation.
